Need help for my mom, PLEASE..

| My mom was officially diagnosed with Lupus in 1988. This last year has been
the toughest on her and we find even more challenges because she has state
medical. Unfortunately, due to the illness she was forced to retire from a
great job at a very early age, in her 30’s, and so did not have the equity
built up in her work history in order to continue her medical from her
employer nor retirement money either. It is awful how she is mistreated and
forced to suffer because she doesn’t have money.
She needs help badly. Recently, a new local pharmacist that came to town
complained to her Dr. about how much Darvocet my mom has been taking. But it
has helped so much over the years with her pain. Because of this pharmacist
the Dr. has now taken my mom off this med all together and it worked so well,
now her blood pressure has skyrocketed and she has endured two TIA’s recently
which makes us very nervous. She has NEVER, EVER had issues with her blood
pressure until she was removed off of the pain meds. He did not even try to
reduce the Darvocet first he just stopped it cold on her and replaced it with
something called Darvon that doesn't even touch the pain. We have expressed
our feelings to him on many occasions now and he ignores our plea's.
I believe this is a common sense issue, that by removing the pain reliever
meds it has caused her pain to become more severe, which causes stress, which
would cause high blood pressure. Doesn’t this make sense? This has been the
worst year for her and we need a new Dr. please that will accept her med-i-
cal and that is not afraid of a pharmacist because his/her patient is
suffering. We need a Dr. that will help her live a quality of life and NOT a
QUANTITY of life. Can anyone help us, PLEASE?
We need a Dr. in the Chico, CA or Sacramento, CA area quickly that isn't
afraid to help my mom with her get rid of her pain and will take state
medical before my mom has a full blown stroke that she cannot come out of. We
are willing to travel. Please can anyone help us.

to help in more study about that killer and like whith
therapy,research.maybe you can to find a something useful for your mum
from my group.all info i put from our russian scienists.my group is

Welcome to the group. I am one of the posters from CA. I live about 90
miles south of Sacramento. Unfortunately I have not found a doctor that is
really willing to deal with the pain either. I have had numerous people
suggest that I go to a "pain specialist" so maybe that would be an option
for your mom. I think that some of these Docs and the pharmacists should
walk a week in our shoes. I bet after a day they too would be asking for
the same help that so many of us are unable to find.
Mair, also from CA and closer to the Bay area seems to have luck with her
doc....so maybe she can jump in and let you know who she sees.
I wish you luck in finding a new physician or at least a new pharmacy!

| I would love to hear from Mair. If we don't do something soon I am going to
lose my mom to a stroke. The Dr. has not even addresses her high blood
pressure at this point and I am afraid he might never or will too late. I
don't mind driving my mom to the bay area if I must. Whatever it takes. I
just want to see her back the way she was 6 months ago. Before this Dr. began
making all these changes to her meds. I am new to this how do I contact Mair?

| Hi Rhonda,
Sorry about your mom. I agree with your theory that the removal of pain meds
caused the rise in her blood pressure. It makes sense to me that it is her
body's reaction to pain. Perhaps you could find a pain clinic in your area.
That is the only thing that comes to my mind at the moment. It is a quality
of life issue. I don't understand doctors sometimes. They just don't get it,
do they? Or maybe they really don't care, because it isn't one of their
family members who is suffering. I wish you good luck in getting help for
you mother.

Mair's had computer problems.
We're trying to get her rheumatologist's name.
If you get desperate you might try the local support groups

Sacramento meeting would be the 20th of this month. (dobule check that by calling
first because it's so close to Xmas)
