Just thought I'd let you guys know I've finally heard from my friend from
New Orleans. She's living with her sister outside of N.O. because her
townhouse needs repair. She says it will be livable and the damage isn't too
bad. Her parents own a bunch of apartments and some are just fine but no one
has returned. They can't evict those who don't return until after Jan 1,
even though no one is paying rent. No rent means no income so her parents
are being hit pretty hard financially. She says very few places are open. No
one is there to work. The college kids have all gone to other schools and
they make up a large portion of the work force. She is traveling about an
hour and a half just to go grocery shopping. She manages the rental property
for her parents so she's busy trying to get things back into order but she
says it is just so hard emotionally and physically. Just send some good luck
wishes to Charlean in the direction of N.O., I think she really needs them.

if their insurance doesn't cover loss of earnings, make noise.
Money's out there - donated. Must be others in same situation.
Some of the college kids came up to Canada - prbably here for their school year.
(tuition was not required since they'd already paid to the schools down there).
So our universities (Cdn tuitions) are funding their tuition, is my
understanding
State should be advised and get the funding in there for your friend .
I suppose they're all still in the assessment period of deciding which areas
will be repopulated or not.
difficult for people like your friend.
