Yes, I did end up in the hospital but they are taking really good are of me
here and I hope to return home tomorrow or Saturday, Sunday at the latest. The
trick seems to be getting all the fluid out of my legs (I've gained about 18
pounds in fluid in my legs this the past week). If they can't get it out of my
legs it will go to my lungs where I will get really sick with pneumonia (if I
haven't all ready) Unfortunately, I'm having to start over, once again, with
the large doses of Prednisone. And the pain in both my chest and my feet is
phenominal. They are giving me a lot of stuff for it but they can only give me
so much you know. I have such a high level of tolerance after so many years of
pain med's..
I am just now starting to get that "weezing" when I exhale. Scares me. I've
been treated so far by my regular lung Doctors partner (all three of them know
me really well) but he returns tomorrow and will have the final say on my
situation.
I "snuck out" today rom the hospital and raced home to spend a few minutes with
Mugsey. I felt like an escaped criminal. I think I'd get in real trouble for
that, I've never done anything like that before! I was gone about an hour....My
29 year old son's girlfriend Julie has been staying at my house (now that she's
a substitute teacher, she works just a few blocks down the street). Mugsey
knows her and loves her but it's not the same and she's been "acting out" some,
wetting on furniture, etc. My son says it's not as bad as it sounds. She's not
used to being seperated from me at all. I'm really worried about her.
I sent out like 30 of those little notes once I found I was gonna be "gone" for
a few days. I only reeived one replyonly reply.I was disappointed, I guess but
I veryone is so busy and tired after the holidays.
I've had this old clunker of a Pentium III laptop that's needed some pretty
heavy-duty work so I've tken care of that since I've been here. It' my
"hospital computer." I had so sign up with AOL again and it works for OK me
when I'm in the hospital I guess. I did try and do and eBay transaction tonight
but this dial up is so slow, I'm used to broadband and I didn't get my bid in
on time.
I'm putting together a new shop of metalworking equipment and blowing the dust
off my drafting table. I'm also having new, faster computers built while I'm
here. It lookslike I'm going to fulfill my life time dream of inventing a
product and taking it to market. Fortunately I've been designing the product
for 10 years and I know the market (and marketing) like the back of my hand.
I plan on licensing the product to a manufacturing comapny who will then market
it through it's own, well established dealer network. These are classguys, I
know them well and I've seen them make several people like me
multi-millionaires in the past 15 years. They had a huge interest in my product
(I had a prototype then and howed them a videotape) as of 5 or 6 years ago
anyway. But I'm prepared to manufacture and sell it myself using their model
(if I haveto) which worked well for them.
Wish me luck. I desperateley need something productive to do that also takes
into my limitations of not being able to work a 90 hour weeks anymore. Wishfull
thinking? Maybe. But I think I owe it to myself to at least try.
Please do not use this AOL address in responding. I still can pick up my
Roeper@Comcast.net
based mail off the AOL web-site.
I don't get visitors when I'm in here so a little contact from the "outide'mens
something special.
Hugs to YOU ALL!!

Hello Michael, I'm sorry you've wound up in hospital. It did give me a chuckle to
read that you were an escapee to go see Mugsey. It also disappoints me to read
that you only received one reply. I suppose we all get caught up in our own issues
and other demands on our time. I can assure you that if I was in your
neighborhood, I'd drop by to chat. I'm interested in people who invent things and
love to hear all about it/them. I'm wishing you much luck and success with that.
I do hope you'll be on the better side of things soon and back home.
I'll be watching for your updates.
Keep in touch,
Best wishes,
J

I like your fiesty style sneaking out like that! I always find myself
deferring to doctors, feeling like a child, you know the drill. I think it
is funny that you snuck out. :-)

Good luck! That is awesome that you are moving forward with things you are
passionate about. I think it is so important -- especially to keep your life
balanced. Congrats! Good luck!!!

Take care - I hope you are back on your feet and out of the hospital by the
time you read this!

| Possible inventions to mull over while you're indisposed:
** heated steering wheels (I've fallen in love with the heated seats in
our new car. Now, why can't steering wheels be heated also? Brrr,
mornings are cold these days!)
** remote control activated house locks (Ever reach for the remote as
you approach the front door?)
Hope you're on the mend!

Look into Swedish cars, eg SAAB or Volvo. Another useful gadget is
demisting heaters for the front windshield.
