Hello lupus groupus
I called Grace tonight at 8pm and reached her husband Doug.
Unfortunately Grace is once again, just today in fact, admitted into
hospital and
will probably spend 2-3 days in there this time round all going well.
Her lungs continue to be the problem with low O2 sats levels
and a low grade temp.that seems to have no etiology that the docs can
source out at this point in time.
Due to her poor reactions to antibiotics, they hesitate to give them to her,
and so the hospital is the best place for her so the docs can watch her
closely for now.
Tomorrow she will be having a bronchoscopy done to see what if anything at
all is going on in her lungs and also she will be having IV-Ig transfusions.
After that hopefully the docs will know how to treat Grace and with luck she
will be able to return home to Doug and Adam possibly with some meds on
board.
The stem cell transplant was successful re the brain tumors (which developed
from the form of blood cancer that she had) and they also kicked her 'lupus'
butt and it seems to be in full remission or 'cured' as far as the doctors
can figure ... BUT...
this lung problem is her primary issue now and it was never an issue in the
past.
Understandably Doug sounds very frustrated though he says he and son Adam,
now 4 years old, are coping well and dealing well from day to day, with all
this chaos in the lives of the 3 of them. They are worn out and so tired of
the 'not knowing' aspect of this medical merry-go-round they are on.
I asked him to let Grace know that we are all pulling for her and to give
her a big hello from us all as well as to let her know that we are sending
prayers on the wings of angels to her bedside so that she may soon be up and
well again!
I will call her again in a week, as her husband Doug suggested that, and I
will report back to you all again then with Grace's progress
Grace is 'one of us' and needs the power of prayer from all of us right now.
So let's do it people and get her back up on her feet and into the arms of
her family!!
Till then, hugs to you all!
from Shelagh
