1/1 - or for my USA friends 1/1 - approaches. Soon the pleasures and
trials of 2004 will be but a distant memory, replaced on the worry-list
by those of 2005. To all of you, except those who got spam-generating

My sister-in-law, born and raised in Manchester, and I were discussing
the differences between English and American usages. The dates (even
after 25 years here in America) are the ones that drive her batty. She
still wants to write them UK style. The American usage looks "wrong" to
her. Oh, well, at least once a month it's the same (1/1, 2/2, 3/3, 4/4,
5/5, 6/6, 7/7, 8/8, 9/9 [my birthday], 10/10, 11/11, 12/12).

A very good start to the new year for my family--my 20 month old
granddaughter got a new heart on New Year's Eve. She had been waiting
for almost a year (the 9th of January would have been a year). She is
doing great. They had the vent out in less than 24 hours and her EKG is
normal.

The donor family is having to face a new year without their little one
but we're so grateful to that that they could, through their grief,
donate their child's organs.

Wow! I am so happy for you and your family about your granddaughter
receiving a new heart! what an absolutely beautiful gift for everyone for a
start to the new year!
What an absolutely unselfish and giving family they must be to have been
able to make that decision at this time of the year as well!

Oh, Nell how absolutely wonderful for you granddaughter. How sad for the
donor family but their gift has allowed their little one to live on with
your granddaughter. Everyone should remember donation when possible. There
are so many parts that people can donate. Yours is the best news I've heard
over the holidays. Seems to put the rest of the world in perspective!
