| I do believe the strip test just tells you there is an infection and the
white cells in the urine, as well as protein, or sugar or blood.
Now to get the culture is entirely different. If they need to treat a
urinary infection, they need a sample of urine, sent to Lab, then have the
culture grown. From there they find out what type of bug, or bacteria, and
give you the right antibiotics.
most docs can usually go with cipro or a sulfa based drug to fight that.
But you still need a culture to be sure it is the right antibiotic.
i say if this has been going on for that long, get to the ER, get that
urine done, even if they catheterize you. YOU will be better off in the
long run to know what bug and treat accordingly.
JUST my opinion but it makes sense LOL
good luck and keep us informed.
Don't let them push antibiotics on you, if they don't know what they are
fighting. It is just a waste of time and money for you.
sorry you feel so bad.
