Author infection getting worse I think

I have been taking the cipro now sense the 20'th of this month.

I was having a lot of painful pressure when I would start to go pee,
now my lower back hurts to the point last night I had to have a heating
pad. I have been running a temp of 101-102.

My daughter had to see the doc so I thought while we were there
yesterday I would ask her about it. As the doctor was leaving she said
that's because of your kidney problem and then went into the other room.

Needless to say I was in total shock. I don't know if she meant a
kidney problem referring to my infection or if I have had a on going
kidney problem and no one bothered to tell me. I am getting very very
worried.

Today my kidneys still hurt, I still have a fever and oh I am so tired.
Not sure if the tiredness is from the weather seeing how it is snowing
outside or what, or if its the lupus.

I thought about going to the ER and seeing a doctor there but I don't
know if my pain warrants a ER visit. Its not unbearable pain to were I
am in tears, its kinda like a really bad body ache hurts to touch. Last
thing I want is for the ER people thinking I am overreacting.

I have a recheck appointment wednesday over this bladder/kidney
infection. She said if it is still there they will do more tests, I am
assuming a culture and perhaps some labs.

Well that's my update, if I don't post before wednesday I will post
after my doctors appointment wednesday. Everyone take care and be safe.

Did they do a culture and sensitivity on your urine? I had a kidney
infection, and went to the emergency room... they gave me one antibiotic,
but then a couple of days later they (the emergency room doc) called to tell
me my infection was resistant to the antibiotic. By that time I had a vever
of 105.5. I went back to the ER and they admitted me immediately...

At any rate, I hope you get the help you need, and are feeling better soon.

This is a very good example why it is good to ask for copies of ALL medical
records. Not only for our own sake but for the sake of other specialists who
may be treating you. Because of the privacy act, often times one doctor
does not know what the other is doing, 'less you tell them or you are part
of an HMO network which does this sort of thing.

Has any of your docs done a CT abdominal scan?

I would opt for going to the ER. Although I hate hospitals but i will tell
you why you should go. Firstly, you need to know if it is life threatening
and or if it affecting your renal process. Also, the antibiotic may not be
working. How many days have you been on it?

You will have to muster up energy to become your own advocate.

In the medical community there is at least one important thing I've learned
and it's this: "The squeaky wheel gets the grease."
If you do not keep saying something is wrong, they just will put their noses
up and move onward to the next patient.

Don't worry what ER people think. You have been diagnosed with a major
illness. Therefore, the most important thing to remember is YOU ARE WHAT's
IMPORTANT. People are gonna think what they want anyways. They will go
home and probably sleep well without any problem while you put yourself
through a gauntlet of concern to what they may think. How 'bout turning the
tables and let THEM worry about what you will think.

Again, the antibiotic you are on may not be sufficient.
Hugs and hope/pray you feel better too soon!

Right gang??

Always,
cloud

At that time, with a fever of 105.5, they should have admitted you... my
opinion.

Dang insurance companies just love pushing medical people to save money.
Grrrr!

My fever was 102 when I went in to the ER the first time. No great pain
over the kidney area either. He put me on Macrobid and ordered a C&S. I
went home and got worse and worse. the last temp I could take was 105.5,
and then I just became unable to move, and the lights went out. I live
alone. I have no idea how long I was out, but it was the doctor calling
from the ER that woke me. He said "come in right away." They admitted
me... my electrolytes were off and I was vomiting besides the fever. But
you know what? They counted the time I was in the hospital by the *hours.*
I felt such pressure to get well! I stuck my finger down my throat and
puked one more time so that they would get off my back, and I could just lie
there and *rest* for a couple more *hours.* Sheesh.
