| Well I went to my rummey they did a ua and it should I had some
luckosites.
About a week after I got back It started to hurt when I would start to
go pee, no burning or anything kind a like pressure.
It was getting worse to the point I could not sit with out it hurting so
I went to the doctor yesterday and she did a ua and it should I had
blood, white cells, and luckosites. She pressed on my lower abdomen and
it hurt from hip to hip, then she feeling my left shoulder blade and it
hurt real bad like a sharp pain.
She told me she us insure if its a bladder infection or kidney
infection, then asked me if anyone in my family have a history of
ovarian cysts or tumors. I said no just pre cancerous cervical cancer
in which both my mother and granny had a hysterectomy, my mother had
her's at the age of 25.
She started me on Cipro 1 tab twice a day and I have a recheck in a
week.
Because of my fatigue my mother is a bit concerned.
The labs my rhummey ordered only a few come back elevated which was my
hct, and chloride my mother said drink more water and that I was
dehydrated. It's hard trying to drink two liters of water a day
especially while on a water pill but I think I am doing a good job.
My question to the group is, does it look like a uti or kidney
infection? Any comments would be appreciated thank you so much. Melody

Hi ya Melody, it sure rang a bell with me, when I saw your post.
The last few weeks I was having pain trying to go pee.. I was feeling it in
my kidneys (left/right mid back), so I took some antibiotics - no more pain
but I had no labwork, because I'm way out of town and I was feeling
unmotivated to go see a doctor. I feel better now and hope you will too
soon.
It's hard to know what part has the infection, because it all comes down the
same pathway, kidney, ureters, bladder etc..is all part of a uti.
But usually in an infection, there's also a bacteria found.
http://www.anytestkits.com/utk-leukocytes-in-urine.htm
leukocytes indicates whether white blood cells are present in urine.
http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/...icle/003646.htm
The hematocrit (hct) indicates the proportion of cells and fluids in the
blood.
High hematocrit may indicate:
* dehydration
- burns
- diarrhea
* erythrocytosis (excessive red blood cell production)
* polycythemia vera
This test may be performed under many other conditions and in the assessment
of many disease states.[]
That's all I think I know about those, I'm not an expert.
Hugs to you,
J

| Am with J on this one. Have just recently seen a ganecologist... however
it's spelt... my brain is kinda fudged-up today.
Anyways, the g-doctor said, all that stuff is all linked together so that if
one organ is sick, be it bladder, colon, kidneys, etc., they can all back up
to the other. PAIN. I get the pressure you have mention also. Generally,
that is what I feel most of the time and not so much the urge to pee. I
know I DO have polycystic ovaries. I had a hysterectomy in '82 but they
left the ovaries. Supposedly because, retaining them helps maintain hormone
levels without HRT. One ovarian cyst has grown in the last year. I also do
have diverticulosis. So whatever it is, it is all going downhill together.
I am ongoing seeing a ob/gyn doc for the ovaries (funny being back in a
waiting room with a bunch of plump ripened bellies)... THis doctor suggested
going to see an oncology specialist, not so much because i have cancer as
the CA-125 did not indicate this (yes, i do know the CA-125 is a crappy test
but at least, if there is prominent cancer, some cancers do indeed show up).
He mentioned seeing an oncologist to help manage the pain or whatever in
regard to the ovaries. Actually, want the truth? I can not remember
exactly what he said or why I would benefit seeing an oncologist. I do know
with all the health issues I have, I am not a good candidate for surgery.
Anyways, in the past two months, I have been on three rounds of two types of
antibiotics... one was levaquin and the other antibiotic began with the
letter "m" and is a long word. I would get feeling better... then I would
relapse again. Pain, rectal bleeding... all that jazz. I just mailed in
one of those smear tests to see if there is any occult blood in the stool.
On my labs, my white blood count was high... indicitive of some sort of
infection. Something is up. I have leaked trace protein in my last past
two urine counts... not unusual to leak trace protein on occasion but
continually? Some levels were low... like sodium. Odd... I do not use table
salt... occasional sea salt or Season All finatic... lol.
As far as what kind of infection you may have, you would need blood test to
measure levels and also a another urine test would help detect any kind of
pus or bacteria. The doc most likely should run a full lab panal on you
along with a follow up clean-catch urine or 24 hour urine collection. There
may be kidney stones or other things going on. People with autoimmune
issues are hosts to a big number of problems in the GI tract. Perhaps in
the future, an abdominal ct-scan with contrast may help discover problems.
Good you are on the antibiotics... you feeling any better from them?
Myself? I am sick of doctors. They do not have a pill for this. Whenever
I go to a doctor, they usually are sending me to yet "another" doctor. What
happened to the good ol' days when one doctor was sufficient? I miss Marcus
Welby!
Oh well, another topic for another discussion.
Hope you are feeling better too soon!
Always,
cloud
