Shutting down site for our pics

| The pics we have on line at Photo island will be eliminated. They are
closing down the site Nov 22 and all pics removed.
I just went there, logged in and that is what they said.
anyone know more?

Yes, if people have lost their pics on their own computers, they should go
get a copy ASAP.
They don't say why on their main page (or even mention it).
Perhaps it wasn't self-paying (ie bringing in money to make up for the
costs) and/or too expensive to maintain and "police".
If you search the newsgroup archives on the word "photoisland", you might
see why I say that.

| You have as of Nov. 22 -04 to download the photos you want from
http://photoisland.atlantic.com
I got an email yesterday saying they are closing and thanking their 'users'
for all the website action.
They have a download applet which will install temporarily in your computer
to quickly download all the photos at once into the directory/folder of your
choice.
It is easily done, the directions are simple.
The first step is to go to 'manage your photos'
then click on 'select all' or just tick the photos you want,
then click on 'download selected photos' and it goes to work asking you to
press 'save' only once through each page of photos selected.
Good luck to you; I feel bad about this, I guess they can't afford to keep
it going at no cost to us?

Sounds like what Photopoint did. That's the problem with storing your
photos someplace.=20
Maybe you should either have photos at two or more places or have
webspace, either with your ISP or space "out there". Yahoo has a place
to created photo albums.=20
You can do something similar with MSN (creating a group and using the
album option).
