My hands hurt. It hurts to type, it hurts to hold a cup, etc. It's my fault,
too! I spent most of Sat removing the paint from the porch floor and then
today I sanded it. I think I removed 50 years of paint. So my hands are
killing me!! But it is painted with primer which I had tinted so I would not
have a white porch floor. Tonight I have swollen, itchy (from the swelling),
stiff, throbbing, bluish-purple looking things where I used to have palms
and fingers.

Why can't I just do things like normal people? Why do I always have to pay
so dearly for what I do??? Going to bed, now.

Bev,
You are old enough to know better.....
What are we going to do with you....
I am sure the porch is beautiful...But the price you pay...
Hope you feel better soon...And remember to pace...

What she said goes double from me!
I agree with Cindy; what on earth are you trying to do girl?
You are no spring chicken, nor am I, and with our illnesses we need to 'pace
ourselves' somewhat!!
You need to slow down some and smell those roses and all the other flowers
you send me the beautiful pictures of! Honestly Bev!

Well, I did over-do it! I also crashed and burned by Wednesday. I went to
work and was so tired and so dizzy that I just felt as if I could not keep
going. I looked at my boss and asked how badly she needed me. She asked why
and I told her I felt horrible and was just too tired to work. So she said
"go home". So I did and I slept the afternoon away. I never take afternoon
naps only morning naps. Afternoon naps mean I'm sick!! Thursday AM I got
everyone out of here and climbed back into bed. Went to work and went to bed
early that night. This morning I woke up and felt almost human again!

I'm planning to take it easy this weekend. I have some cleaning up to do.
I'm going to straighten stuff up but probably not attempt to actually clean
anything. Nor will I sand or do any hard work. I have to work 48 hours next
week. So I'm going to go into that week as rested as possible! Maybe we will
take a nice ride on Sunday.

Here's where the guilt gets me. We only have so many really nice cool
weekends to do stuff outside. Even much of the inside stuff has to be done
outside. I can't cut tiles or backerboard inside so I have to do them
outside. So I feel as if we need to work outside when it is this nice. But I
just can't. I did too much last weekend and it cost me! So everything takes
longer than it should. How many years have we been working on our fence? It
takes 2 weekends to cut, paint, assemble and put one 8 foot (about 2.5
meters) section up! So I blow a perfectly good weekend because I can't
afford to get that tired!! Grrrrrrrrr!!!

Hi... I'm a long-term Lupie and I just found this group.... and am so
glad.. I can relate to the muscle spasms, pain, fatigue..brain fog..

I do the same thing... overdo when I'm feeling well enough to do the
"musts" before the weather changes...or whatever...

I'm no spring chicken either.. but try to act as if because there's no
choice... can't afford to pay someone else to do it..
and if ithe body's going to hurt anyway I figure I may as well have
something to show for it!

Hi ya Lyme,
, welcome to alt.support.lupus
I can relate.
The one thing I do now is do the best I can do any given day and leave the
rest for another day.
But I sure understand about weather, it's one of the unpredictables.

Hi Lyme,

Welcome to the group. I'm usually pretty good with only a few minor aches
and pains. Seems we vary out here from mild to severely ill. I don't usually
over do it and get in such trouble. It could have been much worse.

I live in an old house (150+ years) money pit so it seems there are always
too many things to do. No way could we afford to pay someone to do what we
are doing!! Materials are bad enough but labour ........! So it's a
do-it-yourself situation. This is our third time renovating a house so we
know what we are doing and have most of the tools. Being married to a guy
who loves tools helps!! LOL

Also there are only a handful of us who work and why I am still working is a
long story. Short version is $$$. LOL

I was diagnosed about 5 years ago but the doctor went through my medical
history and said that's lupus, and that's lupus, etc. Seems I was
misdiagnosed as a kid with RA when in fact it was lupus back then. It sure
was nice knowing why I am the way I am.

Welcome to the group. We are glad that you found us also. This is really a
great place to hang out and get support, information and a few laughs from
time to time.
