Our holiday is this weekend.

Despite our troubles, if you have a look here, we've got lots to be
grateful for.

Health

The chances of today's newborns surviving the birth or even childhood will
vary widely. In fact, 90 percent of children due to be born today in
Ethiopia will not be delivered by anyone with any medical training.

If they are born in one of ten countries including Australia, they can
expect to live for more than eighty years. If they are born elsewhere,
their life may be as short as only 34 years.

Over ten million children every year ? a staggering 30,000 children a day
? will die of causes that are either preventable or can be easily cured.

Oh yes!
(A very Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving to all my compatriots!)
We all have so much to be thankful for!
Does anyone else watch 'medecin sans frontiers'
or 'doctors without borders' on Crisis Zone on TLC tv?
It shows reality -up close and personal- in several 3rd world countries!
Absolutely heart breaking and just a tragedy that the countries who 'have'
don't give or do or assist more to those who 'have not',
whether it is financial or social services or even educational!
Anything would have to be better than what we get a glimpse of on tv!

A little late but happy thanksgiving from right near where the first
Thanksgiving was celebrated in Jamestown, Virginia, New World.

And you know those terrible dandelions we try to hard to get rid of? Thank
your forefathers who brought them to the New World so they would have fresh
"lettuce" to eat. Do remember to thank them for those lovely bright smiling
yellow flowers that greet us each spring!!

Sometimes life sucks so it's good to have days where we can celebrate life,
family and what we do have - be it ever so humble.
