Thanks Sherry,
Maggie mentioned it when she checked in a few days ago.
I couldn't understand and couldn't find it on the arthritis newsgroup (under
"methotrexate", but I found posts under MTX (just now).

The problem seems to be the East Coast, possibly Massachusetts.

Two posts from the arthritis newsgroup.

Talked to my RD yesterday about what was up with the mtx shortage. He
said they are having problems getting whatever it is that they use as
the preservative for it. You can still get the mtx without the
preservative, just not the stuff with the preservative. He said what
they are doing for right now is writing new scripts for people for their
mtx and telling them to use one dose and then throw the rest of the vial
away since it doesn't have any preservative in it. So far, he said
this has been working out ok for his patients until the company can get
things straightened out with the preservative they use for the mtx.
Always interesting to hear the stories of why things are in shortage.

Wow, sure would hate to be a rheumatologist right now! Between todays
news on the vioxx and the shortage with the injectable mtx, it has got
to be a real mess!!!

Called my RD's office today
His front office girl said it was a good thing he did come back with
this latest news about the vioxx. She said they had only had about 30-40
calls today about it, but were expecting a whole lot more over the next
week or so. They are doubling their staff for the next 2 weeks to try
and deal with the fallout from the vioxx as well as the trouble people
are having getting their mtx. The mtx shortage has gotten so bad, that
now you can't get any form of the injectable mtx and many are having to
go back to the pill form until the injectable shortage gets straightened
out. Yikes!!! A lot of unhappy campers!!!
