Lack of Feeling, Low Libido, Anorgasmia
|

|
| The thing is that I do have erections most of the time, but there is a
significant lack of feeling than a year ago, lower libido, and sometimes
(especially if I have a few beers-which is at worst once a month) no orgasm.
I'm sure it is low T. I'm 40 and even a few years ago my total T was about
190; if I remember right, my E2 was 32?. I have sleep apnea but use an oral
appliance to keep the airway open. I tried Androgel and it made my throat
close off/made me anxious and always gave me painful pressure in my head
(especially the top)--- maybe made me breath shallow (from being anxious).
I've tried DIM, DHEA, Vit C and Vit E and the pressure was as bad or worse
and the prostate swellling/urination was bad. I tried one of the 'male
performance enhancers' like Enzyte and then I was totally impotent. I even
tried taking even a ZMA (zinc, etc.,) supplement to no avail. I drink 1-2
cups of coffee a day (no pop). I take thyroid medication (which my TSH and
T4 levels are fine) and a small (5 mg) dose of Ambien at night to help me
fall asleep. I do 30 minutes of treadmill in the AM about 4 mornings a
week, lift weights twice a week. Diet I would consider about average (not
an extreme fat free or low carb) with a mix of protein and carbs (including
veggies). To be honest, nothing helps, not even p_rn.
I guess I'm writing this off to aging, stress, sleep apnea. Maybe there is
some info/hope that will help? Getting some feeling back would be nice.
Thanks
Chris

| Now that I think about it, I have been taking some NSAIDs for a foot problem
and also some Prilosec for GERD (here and there). Hmmm....

Boom
A 190 T level is pretty much eunuch status. I know because I've been there.
E2 of 32 is very high for a 190 T count.
Androgel sucked for me, and after spinning my wheels for quite, I finally
went to T cypionate, which was a gift from heaven.
Look back through this group, you'll find much discussion from us on low T/
High E's, and cialis/viagra/levitra.

Adding to what Muerta wrote----
If you take Cialis, it will probably make your GERD worse. Cialis seems
to be the worst of the big three GERD wise.
both Viagra and Levitry (the latter is probably a better choice) should
be taken at least 4 hours prior to bedtime to avoid GERD if you have
tendency in that direction.

I'm not usually GERD-susceptable but had a run of it several years ago
due to a cholesterol med. Total distress with acid bubbling up and
going down the windpipe. Doc was using Prilosec on me to settle the
GERD. That was causing an IBS problem. Switching to Zantac 150 solved
the IBS and settled the GERD.
Finally switched the cholesterol med (follows Ignatz' basic advice to
avoid a drug that needs another to solve its problems.) GERD went away.
After 10mg doses of Levitra I don't have GERD. At 15mg I had mild
discomfort, handled by eating one saltine when I took the pill.
Will go on a three week trial of Cialis later this month. Thanks for
the heads up on the GERD warning. Will keep the saltines and Zantac handy!
---
Hey, Ignatz -- following your advice on weight -- dropped the first 12
pounds. Tt is up to 431. 13lb. more pounds to go. Looks like it
works. Haven't seen the PSA results though -- hope that doesn't take a
jump.

I read through some of your other posts and ran across your bloodwork
but didn't see that you had had your prolactin tested.
Of course I could have missed it, if so please excuse me.
When my prolactin was up is caused my testosterone to dip
significantly. My libido went to nothing.
When you say you have erections most of the time, how often is it that
you are having sex? I was pretty certain that I didn't have ED as I
would get erections when I was having intercourse -- of course, six
months would pass between episodes.
As I recall I started having failures (once going soft during oral
sex) toward the end (before getting treatment) but didn't realize I'd
had ED until my hormones were getting better and I'd taken time to
reflect on what had gone on before.
With my prolactin under control, everything got a lot better.
I'm 46 and my T levels are a lot better than they were when I was 40;
you're a bit young, don't throw in the towel yet.

| Thanks. I'm not sure what my prolactin is. Let's say it was high, what is
the best course of action?
Thanks

| In general, is the there a correlation between one the hormones (high E2 or
low T) that usually correlates with the lack of feeling/anorgasmia?
Thanks

| Let me add... when I just did some quick reading... on causes/links...
Nipple stimualtion (ok... there it is...)
Hypothyroidism
It sounds like zinc supplementation helps keep prolactin down?

| And guess what else can increase prolactin? "Tranquilizers" including
Ambien....

Hi Chris,
You're moving into an area not well served by 'cut and try'
experimentation. Best to get a diagnosis. Could be a tiny tumor on the
pituitary -- treatable with meds after it's confirmed by an MRI.
Good chat with the Urologist, then bloodwork and treatment or
referral to an Endocrinologist.

| In May 2006 my Free T = 10.8 pg/ml, Estradiol was 21.6 pg/ml.
9/2004 I had an MRI of the brain that showed no lesions.
At this point I'm going to have my primary order free T, estradiol, and
prolactin Monday. I will report back.
Thank you. You may have pointed something out here.

| You could just have a try on this Natural Pills. I have heard people say they have good effect when having similar problems:
