________

Any good bike store is now aware of the problem and stocks seats that
distribute your weight more off the area between your cock and your
anus. Some even have a hole right there.

Interesting, the American Nurses Association or some such came out with
a warning about bike seats and ED. If they know, the bike dealers
surely do.

Hi Jim,

I'm riding on an early Serfas 'deep groove' on my road bike. I think
this one started the 'hole in the crotch' seat design. Seat is about 5+
years old. I don't get numb or 'cold crotched' on that saddle for
perhaps 20 miles. Serfas has a bunch of new models and reviews on the
web don't point me toward any particular seat. There are a lot of
newcomers in the hi-tech saddle business.

Am outfitting a mid-quality hybrid (no springs but, a shock absorbing
post) Right now it's got a grooved saddle from Specialized that feels
like a killer after the first 5 miles on smooth surfaces. Bike shop has
plenty of expensive seats hanging on the back wall and 'Susan' is a nice
gal but I've got a hunch she has never suffered a numb glans. Something
that happened too many times when I used to ride on a stretched leather
Motobecane saddle.

I'd place more trust in someone who knows ED and also biking. It's
probably easier to find a biker here than advertise for an ED victim in
a cycling ng -- however, that said, I'll subscribe to a few of those.

I see some guys riding on stubby (hornless), female looking saddles.

I'd be pleased to hear from anyone who is sensitive to bad saddles and
has found something that seems safe.

I got back into biking this summer after a 20 year layoff. I crept
back in because I found it is slightly more tolerable to my low back
if I lean forward a good ways, rather than sitting more upright. This
is exactly the opposite of most old-fart bike riders' conclusions on
back problems and cycling, what can I say?

I have moderate getting-up-in-the-night-to-pee problems. It's not too
bad IF I discipline myself to not drink in the evening. But I think
that MAYBE bike riding provides me with a sort of prostate massage
that reduces the problem a LITTLE. If true, the effect is not graphic
enough for me to say for SURE.

Another observation I'd like to make is that male geography varies in
this physical area. Possibly some of you have played with aneros to
try and alleviate ED. Some men report orgasm with this toy, some get
no effect whatsoever. My point is that bicycle seats are going to
affect different men differently. Because I don't think we're all made
uniformly in this critcal (for bike riding) area of our bodies.

Like all the bike forums say: you gotta ride on the saddle for a while
to find out if it suits you. And most of them say that saddles that
come with most bikes, even high-end ones, are crap. Personally I think
that's overstating it, but better (more comfortable) ones are usually
available. At this point I think I like the smallish ones with a
minimum of padding. They do talk about getting your 'sit bones'
measured to get a saddle with just enough width to support you without
extra width to chafe you.
