Has anyone tried this combination?

I got the idea from:

http://www.emedicinehealth.com/impo...on/page5_em.htm

Where they say the advantages are:

Safe
No surgery required
Painless
Side effects uncommon
May improve success and reduce side effects of yohimbine
If unsuccessful, does not interfere with other treatments
25% estimated success rate
Inexpensive

and the disadvantages:

Need to take medication every day
No reports proving benefit
No reports on long-term use
Side effects, including lethargy and drowsiness
Optimal dosage unknown
75% failure rate
Limited effectiveness
Priapism

Doesn't sound too good eh? Maybe, but the benefit might be in the
fourth line of the advantages (reduces side effects of Yohimbine).
Just what side effects does it reduce? And how much reduction? Does it
mean I could take (say) 10.8mg of Y, something I'd never consider
today because of the side effects, and (say) 1 tab of Tr and except
for causing a huge powerful premature ejaculation <g> I wouldn't
notice anything untoward?

Thanks for the link. It is an interesting summary. I would like to try the
Trazodone, but it is listed as a prescription drug. My doctor is prescribing
Yohimbine for me, but I am in no way suffering from depression, so I'd have a
hard time convincing him of my need for the Trazodone.

Is there a generic alternative? Or some sleazy compounder where I can get
some? When it comes to ED, I am like a human guinea pig, willing to try just
about anything.

Some years ago I took trazodone for a short while, and my
memory of it is that it produced very strong nocturnal
erections from the beginning. So it might be that you could
take it "as needed" instead of every day. Well it might be
worth a try anyway. Note that it has a priapism warning,
one that should be taken seriously based on my experience.

However, I also remember that it really zonked me out, and
not in a good way - the lethargy and drowsiness they talk
about. So maybe that would offset the Yohimbine to some
extent. But I still wouldn't want to take it every day.

My wife has used trazadone to aid in sleep to help when she uses
effexor at times for depression. I tried a trazadone(not sure of the
strength), but it knocked me out(literally) and my blood pressure
bottomed out. Ended up in the ER with an IV til 3 in the morning.
Might be different for you, but be careful with trazedone.

Me too (about the guinea pig) but see the other two comments in this
thread. Sounds like one has to be very careful. As to generic, I think
it's old enough to be off patent. Desyrel is the branded drug but
there's an unbranded one. See:

http://www.rxlist.com/drugs/drug-11...=Trazodone+Oral

I don't know of any Indian or Chinese variety, still that's what
Google is for.

However, I don't know why you don't print out the emedicine article
and simply ask your PCP to give you a trial (sample would be even
better) prescription. Sure you're not taking it for depression but
there's plenty of drugs used off-label and most MD's prescribe
off-label frequently. Your insurance might not pay though if he's
actually honest and says what it's been prescribed for. Do they pay
for your Y?

Or, another alternative is to fake the depression part. Not really too
hard. Just look up the symptoms and say the right things. I do this
sometimes with my PCP. Years ago I faked depression to get
Prozac--aargh, what a disaster! But he's not stupid and certainly
knows what's going on. Unless he thinks it's going to kill you or it's
a controlled substance he'll (at least mine will) play along.

I guess I never asked. It is not very expensive.
I just received a new batch of Y from Drugstore.com. The new batch seems more
effective than the 2004 batch. I wonder if it loses effectiveness over time.
The insert says don't store it in the bathroom. I guess they are concerned
about the humidity from a shower.
Someone reported his Viagra lost strength.
Back to the Traz.. I found at least one place that would sell it w/o a
prescription, but reading the side effects may have changed my mind.
Specifically "Loss of libido" and "Increased Prolactin" Both things I would
not want. The only positive thing is that it counteracts the side effects of
Yohimbine. The sleepyness sounds unwelcome, but the Y makes me nervous and
hyperactive, so they may average out.
Regarding the drop in Blood Pressure from Traz, I had extreme low BP about a
month ago. Dizzyness, almost passed out. Probably due to eating way too many
cherry tomatoes from the garden.

Guess I will keep looking.

Hmmm. I used to buy it from Drugstore.com too but I've been looking
around and I notice Costco at $12.24 per 100

http://www.costco.com/Pharmacy/fram...ticle=YOHIMBINE

whereas Drugstore.com want $24.86 for 100, more than double the price.
I tried to find out Walmart's and Target's price but they're very coy
(unless I simply can't read the website).

I think temperature is the enemy.

I don't know what you've been reading but rxlist (probably from First
Data Bank) say Decreased libido was <1% for inpatients and 1.3% for
outpatients. Placebo inpatients were 1.1% and <1% for outpatients. See

http://www.rxlist.com/cgi/generic/traz_ad.htm

Retrograde ejaculation and Increased libido were both <1%

I don't see anything about increasing prolactin.

A search for "Prolactin" and "Trazodone" brings up 44,100 hits.
Here is a typical one:

Search for "Tomatoes" "Blood pressure" brings up 640,000 hits.
Here is a typical quote:
"Eating tomatoes may significantly reduce systolic blood pressure, said
researchers at the Sixteenth Annual Scientific ..."
