I am 35 years old and for the past 3-4 months I seem to have lost the
ability to achieve or maintain an erection. It also seems that some of
the arousal when "thinking" about sex has disappeared in that time.
The onset of all of this seemed to occur around the time that I was
taking antibiotics for a ear and lung infection but I do not believe
that there is any correlation between the two issues.

Unfortunately, all the problems seem to have started just around the
time that I met a new girlfriend as well. When I am not able to
perform I can tell that she feels that it is somehow her fault. I have
been to the doctor and I am awaiting the results of blood work that he
suggested. I don't want this new relationship to end because of my
inabilities and I am not sure what to expect next from the doctor.
Because of my age and my ability to still get morning erections he
feels that it is likely mostly a mental issue. I would think that
straigtening out a mental issue is going to take some length of time.

Anyone else in the same boat or been through this too?? I never
thought that at 35 I would be in this position.

Thanks!!

If I were you I would just level with your new girlfriend about it.
Tell her you have ocassional problems and have just started going to a
doctor to get it resolved. Tell her you don't want her to think its
her fault which is the main reason you are bringing it up. If she
leaves over that then you may be better off without her anyway. Most
likely she will be understanding and very likely will be willing to do
whatever it takes to get you going when youre having trouble. Telling
her could turn out to be a plus in that respect.

This is strange that you have the morning erections along with these
problems. Still I would pursue the hormonal testing before you decide
its mental. Make sure they test everything. These come to mind but I
will probably miss some: total T, free T, SHBG, estradiol, LH,
Cortisol, TSH, prolactin. There are a number of people on this board
who have a lot of expertise in the hormones so if you want to post any
results you get, you may find good advice.

Are you circumcised? Because it usually starts at your age if you are, while
most real whole men can keep going till 90.

There may be some connexion either with the drugs or the original condition
you were being treated for.

It may have to do with something as simple as the residual effects of the
infection and fatigue.

I also have morning erections, but still consider myself an ED 'victim'
..... cialis, levitre or viagra all work for me.
i currently use levitra because it seems there are fewer side-effects
and it is longer lasting for me. Justin should not hesitate to see
the doc and get a script for one of the PROVEN drugs for ED.

Justin,

I am 35 also and my story is very similar to yours. i went to the doc twice
and he gave me some samples of levitra, viagra, and cialis. the viagra
didn't really do anything, the levitra is fantastic, the cialis is more
natural and what i use now. my testosterone is on the low side but the doc
at this time doesn't want to do anything about it which i disagree with.
basically sometimes i can't get enough, sometimes going 4, 5, 6 times a day
then all of a sudden even with the cialis i have no interest for a day or 2
or even 3. also my insurance only covers viagra so i buy my cialis overseas
for $1 a pill from alldaychemist.com. they are outrageous here in the
states if your insurance doesn't cover it, like $10 a pill.

What utter rubbish about circumcision! Circumcised men are generally
better sexual performers than uncuts and women much prefer a cut penis
from aesthetic and sexual satisfaction points of view. Ignore such
anti-circ nonsense.
