I'll respond on the Viagra side of this and let the Tri-Mix guys talk to
alternatives in injectibles and pharmacies. I wound up in the same boat
nearing my 4th anniversary on Viagra. When I hit 150mg and was going
for 200mg I ran to the GP and she sent me back to my Uro. Uro switched
me to a pair of small doses of Levitra about 30 minutes apart, starting
an hour before foreplay -- mandatory wait, no cheating!

This is a PITA but has me back in the saddle (brings the blood plasma
level up slowly without the shotgun blast from Viagra). I'm ready for
the needle though--probably this summer.

Lmac, when you say a pair of "small doses" of Levitra, how many
milligrams each?

Ralph;

>From the point of view of economics, T-mix might come out cheaper than

Caverject, even with a co-pay from the insurance on the Caverject and
none on the T-mix (if they will not cover that.)

T-mix costs me about $1.70 per event, including syringes and I have no
co-pay on it. Add up the projected Caverject cost to you then compare
with what T-mix costs - about $80 for a 5 ml vial which lasts months.

After the Viagra foolishness, Uro started me out splitting a 20 and
spacing two 10mg doses by 45 minutes. (With the first dose 90 minutes
before stimulation). He asked that I then try to reduce to two 5 mg
doses. The game plan was to retrain my brain to respond to stimulation,
not the med side effects. (i.e. return to being a sexual animal rather
than a druggie.) Biggest problem here was the 90 minute wait -- made
things too damn 'formal.'

After a couple of months I zeroed in on a 10mg dose one hour before
stimulation followed by 5mg 30 minutes later. That, 'sweet-spot' combo
kept me nicely capable for 30-40 minutes after start of foreplay.
Splitting a 20mg pill in 1/4s was more difficult than accurately
splitting a Viagra into 1/3s and I'd usually wind up with unmeasurable
'crumbs.' So, I settled on two 10 mg doses, 30 minutes apart.

One more birthday has caught up with me since I started the 'two-dose'
Levitra routine and the pair of 10mg doses is just about right for me
now. Levitra is a very 'soft' med for me and the only side-effects I
get out of the 20mg total dose are sneezing and plenty of sinus drainage
after the prolactin surge followed by some hamstring pain about 12 hours
later. I suspect that I have a much larger prolactin surge than the
average guy and it's certainly higher than it was 5 years ago.

The other age-related problem is a greater than average loss of penial
length. I've read stats that show a 25% loss of erect length at age
70-75 in comparison to age 20. My loss has been over 35% and that
places a premium on erectile quality. Levitra is barely OK but I know
I'll need to find an improved strategy.

Annual Uro visit is coming up in a couple of months and I'm going to
propose a combo of Levitra and TriMix. Any thoughts?
