Heart Condition and impotency

| I am 53 and up until recently did smoke, I in 2004 was diagnosed with
inoperable coranary arterial desease. I am by social security disabled due
to that condition. My erection does not last. I can ejaculate and I achieve
erection, however during the act it goes flacid. My doctor will not give me
any thing for this due that if I have to take Nitro for any angina it could
as she put it kill me. I have seen at the vitamin store a product called
enzyte and looked at the box, it states it grows the penis (ive heard that
before) not what I need. I also found a product on the net that is called
zenerx, it is for erectile dysfunction. I am wondering if any of these
work and if any of you have any ideas as to what will work in my
situation. This is taking a toll on my relationship and I am determined to
find a solution. I have tried the ring. That is not an option the erection
does not stay long enough to place it on. Also it was painfull the times I
did wear it.

I know how frustrating your situation must be, and I applaud you for being
determined not to accept the situation. I have a few questions, and a few
suggestions.
First, what makes you say your condition is "inoperable"? And what kind of
cardiac care are you presently under? (For instance, VA, medicare, etc.)
Also, what drugs are you currently taking? If you are taking high blood
pressure meds, for instance, these can be a factor in ED. So can other heart
meds. So you need to look at anything you might currently be doing (smoking,
drinking coffee or cola drinks, taking BP meds, etc.) that could be
contributing to your ED, and eliminate those factors if possible.
Second, do you take nitro? If you aren't presently taking it, I'm not sure
Viagra would be such a problem. Clearly, if you DO take nitro at the present
time, Viagra is NOT a solution for you.
The two "supplements" you mention are overpriced potpourris of various
substances (herbs, amino acids, etc.) that have been hyped as helpful in
overcoming ED. The experience of most posters to this forum has been that
these "alternatives" are worthless. In any case, they usually combine so many
different ingredients in their attempt at seeming scientifically valid, that
they fail to provide much of any one thing that potentially might be helpful.
Anything that bills itself as a male "enhancement" pill (that is code for
penis enlarger) is a bag of bullshit and should be avoided.
There ARE new drugs on the horizon that will treat ED through different
actions than the current crop of ED meds. One company is trying to get FDA
approval for a drug called Melanotan. It's possible that you could get into
the clinical trials. The drug company's Web site is:
http://www.palatin.com/
In the meantime, if your ED problems are caused by arterial issues (and it
sounds like they might be), there are a couple of well-researched natural
substances that may be of help. Dark bitter and semi-sweet chocolate turns
out to improve blood flow fairly dramatically (must have a high percentate of
cacao). And recent resesarch on pomegranate juice suggests that it also may
be helpful for improving blood flow and erasing plaque on the arterials
walls.
Last but not least, you might want to try different sexual positions. Some
posters here find that different positions help them keep an erection longer.
Standing positions (counterintuitively) are often reported to be more
erection-friendly than missionary, etc. Another position you might want to
try is with your partner on her back, and you on your side, perpendicular (no
pun intended) to her.
As for the ring, there are many different kinds of them. And there are a few
satisfied users in this group. I am sure one of them will provide advice on
the best ring to choose, and how to use it optimally. Good luck and keep us
posted.

| I am not on a nitro regiman due to the fact that I have no constant
angina.I do have it near however just in case, so far ive not used it and
this is my second fill of the script, had to be refilled because its
potency leaves after about six months, not because I used any of it. The
reason my condition is inoperable ( three differant and unassociated
cardiac thorasic surgeons) is that after my third heart attack, they found
that the muscle has 30% loss in heart muscle. I did go to the website that
you listed and did not find an area for sign up for a test subject. As I
stated I can achieve I just cant maintain. If you could look over the site
I am listing I would like an opinion.
http://www.zenerx.com/ They do not bill this as a male enhancement this is
listed as a natural remedy for ed.
As far as positions that is something I will try, and yes it is very
frustrating, to know that somewhere a solution exists, I cannot find and
will not just give up.

I suggest the noninvasive technique of injection therapy.

There are a couple of options. First, you could try using a pump and a
ring. You put a cylinder over your penis and pump it to erection. The ring
is slipped off the cylinder onto the erect penis. There is no time for you
to lose your erection.
The second alternative is to use the injections such as tri-mix. As for a
referral to a urologist. He/she can give you details on both the pump and
the injection.
As for the Enzyte, I'm not sure you can still buy that even if it worked
(which I doubt it does.) The company that makes Enzyte is local to me.
About a week ago several federal agencies stormed their headquarters and
marched the executives off in handcuffs. They are charged with defrauding
customers out of millions of dollars. Here is a link to the article:

| I was refering to the zenerx the enzyte is to me rather bogus. I am happy
to know that at least they will get the justice they deserve.

They're both bogus. The difference is that the zenerx crew isn't fraudently
charging credit cards to make even more money, so they haven't been carted
away in cuffs yet. You would be way better off spending your money on the
injections, as Jerry has suggested.

hi heartbroke - here's some good news for a change.......
there is a clinical trial that is finishing up for inoperative heart
patients.
my wife has had two heart attacks, triple bypass surgery, triple stents
put in, and a double angioplasty and they said that she was too healthy
and kicked her out of the program.
basically, what the clinical trial is all about is they use a virus and
kill it leaving the small empty shell of the virus. then they inject a
special enzyme that causes the heart tissue to be stimulated into
growing new blood vessels around the blockage.
people that could hardly walk are on treadmills 90 days later.
the trials are in phase 3 testing and should get the fast track approval
from the FDA soon - i hope.
then, maybe we can get the treatment for the wife. she is 100% totally
inoperative now and this is her last ray of hope.
all the best.

| Thanks to all that responded, I have an appointment with my PCP on the
seventh and will make sure to ask for a referal. It is good to know that I
am not alone and that others have the same situation. I am curious as to
the results of the trials, does anyone have the web address for the
information that PALMER was talking about?
Again Thanks to all.

| I understand that it's very difficult to get SS disability so if you're on
it your condition must be serious and I suggest consulting your doctor
before taking ANYTHING even supplements. You can ask her about apomorphine
if you're taking nitro but it's not sold in the US and only works in a small
% of ED cases.

since nobody posted, i'll add to this. if you call your local heart
medical group, you should get a starting point.
my wife was going to the louisville cardiology medical group. their
phone number is 502-893-7710. maybe they can give you a starting point
on who is doing a heart clinical trial in your area.
hope this information helps.
