25 and I dont really know whats wrong with me
|
|
|
| Hi all,
I have been reading this newsgroup for a long time to try and selfdiagnose
what is wrong with me.
Since my first sexual encounter when I was 20, I have had problems.
Basically, when kissing, fondling etc with my girlfriends, I do not get an
erection. i get precum, but I just feel dead down below.
I get morning erections to some extent but they are not rock hard, but hard
enough to penetrate. Masturbating I can get an erection that is hard but
will often lose it but get it again just before I cum.
i went to the doctors once about it, explained that I was having problems
and that it was making me depressed. The doctor did not perform a physical
but tested my blood for testosterone levels, thyroxine and blood sugar. The
results came out fine, with a testosterone level at the upper end of the
scale. It was not a "free testosterone" test though, just the gross amount.
I was expecting a prolactin and oestrogen test too but I guess they do not
do those tests here in the UK on the NHS. After the test results no further
action was taken by the doctor, she said it was psychological and prescribed
antidepressants which after 2 months I gave up on.
I am overweight but not to an extent that I would expect to be impotent? I
am 14stone, (196 pounds). i am trying to lose this weight by cardio and
weights but no improvement seen yet down below.
Have tried viagra (generic stuff) and yes there is an improvement, but still
do not get erect during kissing and fondling, it really takes a lot of
stimulation to get me going, but i see viagra as only a band aid to the
problem and not a real solution.
I think my problem is either:
hormonal - although testosterone high it is being affected by other hormonal
issues.
vein leakage
also with a lot of anxiety thrown in for good measure.
Please can I get some advise and excuse my ramblings.
ps yes I do drink caffeine but when I know I may have to have sex I avoid it
like the plague for hours before.
Thank you all in advance,

| Sounds to me like the girls you're with simply arn't very skilled, I
consider it my partners job to get me fully hard rather than mine.
I might also suggest you try putting your favourite porn tape on while
your getting it on with your girl. That has always helped me get it up
with girls I'm already bored of :-)

If you've been reading for a long time, then you know about medicines and
too much caffeine. I suggest you go to a urologists and see about getting
the shots.

| I am not on any medication whatsover at the moment, and my caffeine intake
is not as much as most? Do you think going cold turkey on all caffeine is an
idea?
also - what "shots" do you mean?
thanks,
c

Caffeine is a vasoconstrictor, meaning it shrinks up your blood vessels.
Same as nicotine or heavy exercise. Caffeine (also from coke and chocolate)
takes a while to leave your system. If you stop drinking at noon, you should
be okay in the evening. Sometimes that can explain why it's easer for some
to get morning erections. No stress and you're relaxed.

The shots do the same things the pills do, only better. When you see us
refer to 'trimix' or 'Caverject,' it mean penal injections. Many of us have
gone to injections because there is no worrying about not eating before
taking Viagra; or the timing. Very high success rate. See your urologists.

| Ok Jerry, thanks for the info about caffeine, I am going to give it up
totally and see if that makes a difference.
I have to disagree on your advice about the injections though.
I shouldnt need them - there is something not right with me in some respect
preventing me from having sex. I am 25 years old not 60! Taking these
injections is ignoring the fact that my dick is trying to tell me something!
I think I am going to have to see a urologist.
Whats it like trying to see one in the UK? I am guessing a years wait? I can
afford bupa if anyone can recommend that over the NHS for this kind of
problem?

Never take antidepressants.

Not likely. Do you have any other physical symptoms?

Possible.

Anxiety is probably not the cause since at 25 a lot of guys are extremely
nervous but still get an erection when with a female because the sexual
feelings cancel out the anxiety. You've heard of actors who have stagefright
and are physically ill but once they get going they're fine. Same
thing.Besides, you said this happens when you're alone.Try some Xanax and
see if it helps. Take .5mg

At your age it's not the caffeine, alcohol or your weight.
You might want to try apomorphine 3mg. sold as Uprima. If this has a
dramatic effect your problem most likely has to do with dopamine.
Unfortunately, it could indicate the beginning of MS taking into account
that you are 25. That's also a hard disease to diagnose :o(

When you say you feel dead down there do you mean you just don't get an
erection or is there is a lack of sensation? Is it just this area or do you
have it in other places of your body? If you stand with your eyes closed are
you aware of the positions of your arms and legs etc. If not, see a
neurologist.

There is no age limit for performance anxiety or stress.
