| this has really been giving me the shits, im just turning 23 this year
and there are MANY times when i'm with my girlfriend (and
exgirlfriends, ive had it for about two years) and i can't sustain an
erection or the erection isn't hard enough for the girl when she's 'on
top'. pretty embaressing. i haven't had any tests done as i'm unsure
what to do but i ALWAYS experience strong firm erections in the
mornings and i try to take advantage of this when we wake up together
and it's great.
other times we are messing around and she'll want to have sex and i
have to apologise because the erection is very weak (late at night and
during the day). i noticed the other day everything was great (and she
was happy) after we went out an i had a few beers (i dont drink very
often). i also don't smoke.
because my erections are fine in the mornings and can last for ages i'm
assuming the problem isn't the 'plumbing' so to speak.
what steps can i take to better understand the problem ?

| The first thing you should do is go to a doctor and get your testosterone
level checked. Testosterone levels are highest in the morning, and you seem
to have no problem in the morning. At night, when most of us finally have
time for sex, the level is the lowest. Have you had mumps? That affects
the testicles, and can greatly lower testosterone. Also, if you have nerve
compression, as from a back injury, the pressure on the nerve is at its
least in the morning after a night of rest, but greater after walking around
all day, and that can affect the ability to get an erection.
Also, there is performance anxiety.....I failed last time, will I fail this
time. I listed this last because it used to be the first consideration, but
now it is known that much ED is physical, and not psychological. I had your
problem even as a teenager, because of a sports injury causing leakage of
the veins feeding the penis. I couldn't gete it up to masturbate when I was
in high school, and spent most of my adult life not being able to have sex.
