Confessions of a Viaga Junkie

| Hi everyone.
I have been lurking here for a few weeks and thought I would jump in. I'm
52, and have had performance issue for a few years. It's hard to really
pin-point the onset of my ED, as in retrospect, it has been a gradual
progression. At first I noticed that I had trouble maintain a good
erection, and more recently I have had some problems achieving an erection.
The problem is, it seems to by cyclic. Sometimes everything seems fairly
normal, and other times I can't get an erection to save my life.
It think part of it is anxiety. Once you fear that you might not get hard,
or stay hard, it tends to be a self-fulfilling reality. I'm not much for
going to the doctor, but the last time around, everything was OK - physical,
blood work, etc. I am overweight, sedentary, and tend to be a little on the
high end, blood pressure wise. We have had a lot of stress in the last few
years with a constant stream of negative occurrences from job losses to a
house fire. On top of that, my partner ( I'm gay) ended up with Peyronie's
disease. For about a year we didn't really even have sex because it was
painful for him to even get an erection. His urologist was an XXXXXXX,
unwilling to really offer any treatment. We had to do a lot of research and
push him the entire way. Now the pain is gone, but sex is limited because
of the curvature. Neither of us are easily orgasmic which complicated things
all the more.
I haven't told my partner that I take Viagra. I tried to bring up the
subject, but he didn't seem to want to discuss it. When I mentioned that I
felt like I needed Viagra, he just looked puzzled and said "really?" I had
already ordered it, but hadn't received it, so I didn't want to get into a
big discussion since I didn't know if it would even work. Now I find myself
trying to anticipate when we might have sex and sneak a pill. I think he
might know, but isn't saying anything.
I decided to purchase some Viagra (generic) online. It has really turned
things around for me. I find that 25mg will give me a good, lasting
erection in 20 to 30 minutes. I split the 100mg tab into four pieces and
let it dissolve under my tongue. I also find that it seems to have lasting
effects - well beyond the 4 hours estimated in the literature. I am also
finding that I have nocturnal erections now even on days that I don't take
Viagra. Maybe its all psychological? I haven't tried the other drugs since
Viagra works well and is the least expensive option. Sometimes I feel like
a junkie, always conscious of how many pills I have, how often I want to
have sex or masturbate, and how long it will take to receive another order.
Do others find themselves organizing their lives around their supply of
pills?
Well, that's my story. Let me know your thoughts.

If it works well for you then try cutting them again to 12 mg.
If that works then this reduces your stock availability anxiety by 50% : )
I am pretty OK without V but I find it usually (95% of the time I take it) adds
quite a bit.
There is an occasional miss even when using a piece of the same pill which
worked stunningly the last time.
I respond very well to it so 12 mg works nicely for me starting in 20 mins and
out to 24 hours.

Variations in quality and ease of erections can certainly be due to stress as
you point out. They can also be influenced by our individual hormonal tides.

You might want to try Cialis as an alternative. The costs are comparable to
Viagra, and many users find that side effects (if you experience them) are
less pronounced. The advantage is that a 10 or 20 mg dose lasts at least 36
hours. For many users, the actual window is longer -- in my case up to 60
hours on 10 mg. It makes for a more natural sexuality, without the pressure
to engage in sex within 4-hour windows. The blood pressure lowering effect is
also longer-lasting than Viagra, so if your blood pressure is borderline
high, it can actually be used as an alternative to BP meds.
I'm familiar with the "organizing your life around your supply of pills"
syndrome. But I think you will find that vanishes in time. I finally bit the
bullet and now simply purchase 20 mg Cialis 30 at a time. Cutting the pills
in half and taking 10 mg every 3 days, those 30 pills last me 5 or 6 months.
I also keep some Viagra on hand for quickies. Frankly, I see it as very
similar to any other kind of drug your body requires -- you want to make sure
you have enough on hand to meet your needs. What takes some getting used to
is applying that idea to your sex life.
I'm sorry to hear that you and your partner have been through so many
difficulties recently -- but it sounds like things are on the upswing. Give
Cialis a try. (It also tends to create fewer anorgasmia problems, which seems
to be of concern to you.)

Thanks for the advice. I will try cutting the pill into 8 parts. Maybe I
will just take 1/8 of a pill each evening and see how it goes.

I'm thinking it might be more of a hormonal thing at this point. I started
on some DHEA and I think that has helped, but it could be the placebo
effect.

Maybe. The only thing that makes me think it isn't ALL psychological is
that there has been a gradual decline in the quality and frequency of
erections. I'm sure that some of it is psychological. Now that I have the
Viagra, I don't worry at all about sex. It would be interesting to see if
sugar pills would work as well as the Viagra.

Maybe I will try Cialis next time just to see how it works for me. I have
an order of 60, 100mg Viagra tabs on the way ( I hope). I hate dealing with
overseas suppliers! As I recall, the generic Viagra costs $100 for 60, 100
mg tabs and the Cialis is about the same for 30, 20mg tabs. It seemed to
cost more, but maybe with a longer effective time, the cost "per erection"
is less. Someone should do a study on this!

I have never been easily orgasmic. When I first started taking Viagra, it
seemed to make things worse - or maybe it was that I was masturbating too
much. Now, the anorgasmia seems to have disappeared and I am back to my
normal "have to work for it" orgasm. In fact, I think even that has
improved because losing my erection is on less thing to distract me during
sex.

Mmmmmmmm, conflicts with a s/o always muddies the waters. Psychological or
not, the "proof is in the pudding". I have never argued with that which
works, and you should not either. Life is far too short.
I have to agree with Wanderer and suggest Cialis. You may be one of the few
that it doesn't work out for, but most of us have found that it lasts a long
time, has less side effects, and is extremely unexpensive on the "per boner"
scale.
Man, I'm 52 also, and between my doc and Josh, life is good. Keep that pill
bottle stocked.

Thanks for the "upbeat" perspective. I will definitely try Cialis next time
around. I toyed with the idea when I placed the last order. Do most people
here find that 10mg. is an effective dose? I didn't know about Josh when
I placed the last order. I wish there wasn't the $35 up-charge (no pun
intended) for orders under $300.

What's the advantage of keeping Viagra on hand for "quickies" if you
already have Cialis?

I'm also 52. I find that even 5mg of Cialis is sufficient, and the
effect lasts up to 72hrs.

Thanks for sharing. At 5 mg every 72 hours, Cialis would be a better choice
for me, both financially and sexually.

Go to a doctor get some samples and a prescription for Cialis 20mg(it's very
easy to split). Also, go to the Cialis page and download the couple to get 3
free tablets + they will send you another coupon for 3 more.
