Hello, I did a search for medical specialists treating ED and did not
find much in this group. The best thing I saw was the advice to ask for
recommendations. However, the man who this advice was given to then
asked, "who do I ask?" Good point, but I will start with you. Do you
know any doctor anywhere with a great track record on treating ED?

I have been going to a Urologist in DC who is in the hosptial where I
had a radical prostectomy. Apparently, because they do that operation,
the urologists then deal with one of the side effects - ED. My
experience has not been gratifying, as I have yet, after 3 years, found
anything better than the pump which was recommended by my family
physician who is a heart specialist. The ED started a few years before
I had the RP. My next doctor is an endro. and that doc found that
mytestosterone was very low. I started testosterone shots and later
patches. (At that time there was no Viagra). The testosterone made me
feel much better, but did nothing for ED. Then I got prostate cancer
and still have some sign of it now, but so far, so good.

After the RP, I have tried all the other drugs and shots. For the most
part, I was the one asking for or agreeing to try one thing or another.
I think in this messy process, I probably failed to give anything a
good try and may have missed something. I told the doctors that Viagra
was no good, because I'd tried a bottle ordered through the mail when
it first came out and it did nothing for me.

I did get Rxs for Levitra and Cialis. The Cialis seemed to help, but
subsequently it did not. I tried shots, but never proceeded beyond
caverject and the two formulations of the hospital's three drug
cocktail. I was told there were other mixtures available from outside
the hospital, but declined as the needle was bothering me.

So now I think it is time to go back and start over. My sexual life has
come down to once a year with an "escort" since any more would be a
waste of money. However, all I can think about day and night is sex
even if I am not going to have any.

Rather than go back to the same doctor, I was wondering if there might
be an expert on the subject who really has a good track record of
helping men. The best way to find out is to ask other people, but
where would I do this? This group is made up of mostly men still
searching for a cure. Are there other word-of-mouth channels?

Since this is one that I do know about, I will ask for your advice
first. Any recommendations?

Thanks, George

Go to a urologist. Although you said the needle bothered you, I believe that
course is going to be your best bet. The needles are very small now and
trimix seems to have the best results for the most people.

Hi,

The best man in the US probably is Dr. Irwin Goldstein formerly of Boston
University. You can probably still get hold of him there.

617-638-8485

I treaveled there taking 4 hours one way after writing and getting him to
accept me as a patient. Traveled there 3 times to get on trmix therapy.

He developed trimix therapy and if your cavity is intact and functional the
trimix is probably the best fix.

If not then he will give you the best alternatives.
