I am about to be prescribed Aldactone for high blood pressure....

I have been told that it causes impotence.
Does anyone know of this, and any other bad side effects??

Thanks

Do a search, Here's what I found. Ask your doctor and request some (free)
pills. Or discuss injections.

This is the generic drug spironolactone. It is an agressive
anti-androgen, and often causes impotence and even gynecomastia
(breast development in men).

I would strongly suggest that you ask your doctor if he would give
you Inspra (eplerenone) instead. This is almost the same drug as
spironolactone, but has a small modification to its molecular
structure so that it has almost no affinity to androgen receptors.
For hypertension, eplerenone should work just as well as
spironolactone, and in exactly the same manner, but should have far
fewer side effects. If I were you, and I'm not, I would push real
hard on this one.
