I started several years ago with a weekly Testosterone injection, and my
free T levels (anyway the ones that should be between 200 and 800) were 140.
After a while, I changed over to Androgel, got into the low 200's...now I
tried the patch and it ruined my skin so bad I can't use them, so now I'm
finally doing my own injections with a huge needle directly into my leg, and
frankly I am a man and a needle is no big deal to me, so I'm happier with
that than the gel and patch....

But, to the question...after all the T I've loaded up on, why would my
levels refuse to come up? My new urologist seems more interested in fixing
it than the GP did, so if I have better questions, maybe I'll get better
results.

Help!

Ed

OK, T injections are infallible. So if you are getting a proper dosage, and
your "free" levels are low, that points to a SHBG issue.

Get your SHBG levels checked, if high (and, the gotta be), then get them
lowered.

BTW, androgel will make you ooze estrogen like an ovulating female.

I'm guessing that is a Total T number. The range I get from my doctor
is 241-827 for Total T and 5-21 for free T. I could be wrong.

When I was 40 my Total T was around 122 (241-827). I had been on
Androgel at one point and it did little to boost my T. I understand
that shots are better.

After finding this group I eventually had tests for the following:
SHBG, FSH, Testosterone, Estradiol, Prolactin, TSH,
LH, Free T, Total Estrogens and DHEA

My prolactin came in high, which caused my T to be low. As it happens
I have a Prolactinoma.

I recently posted my bloodwork history and experience getting my
hormones back in line. The post can be found here:

You might want to have all of your hormones tested.

How old are you?

Good luck. Keep us posted.

What is the exact name of the T you are injecting? How much are you
injecting? How often are you injecting? And why are you injecting into your
leg? Also, when are you measuring T levels relative to your last injection?
