Author Psychotherapy for ED?

I've not heard of any case where it was said to have cured ED.

Has it worked for anyone on this forum or anyone you know?

Or perhaps it doesn't work because all those so called "Performance Anxiety"
cases also have a physical cause that is being overlooked with the
"performance anxiety" label?

If performance anxiety is such a serious issue that it can lead to a
lifetime of ED wouldn't it have been affecting more of the male population
as there is always some trepidation/anxiety before sexual intercourse in
many cases?

Viagra has been very inconsistent for me. Sometimes it works sometimes it
doesn't do anything even when taken on an empty stomach. I'm thinking of
trying out psychotherapy but wondering if it'll all be a waste of time and
money.

Has anyone got any information regarding psychotherapy i.e. what steps are
involved in the treatment and the kind of exercises involved?

Thanks in advance

The best 'psychotherapy' is to get an erection every time you want it. If
Viagra is inconsistent try the injectables (Edex, Caverject). These will
give an erection to a dead man. They laugh at performance anxiety and kick
sand in its face.

I doubt that psychotherapy is the right kind of therapy for such a specific
problem, unless your performance anxiety is part of a larger psychological
issue.

A better treatment for true performance anxiety would be surrogate therapy.
It bascially teaches you how to experience sexuality without negativity and
anxiety. There's an interesting article about it here:

Of course, you could always go the Doc Generosity route and do the needle
thing. Many here who have not had success with Viagra swear by it.

The real issue for you is finding out if there is an organic cause for your
ED. What tests have been done? What was the doctor's diagnosis? Without the
full panel of tests for circulatory problems, nerve damage, hormones, you
could be treating a physical problem with a psychological solution. Anyway,
these days, an awful lot of psychotherapists basically just prescribe an SSRI
and send you on your merry way.

I think a combination of psychotherapy and V,C, etc. , and/or trimix
would do wonders for you. 40 years ago I went to a therapist, Albert
Ellis, who is the father of cognitive therapy. I was in my late
twentys, and suffereing the beginnings of ED. Within 3 months, the
symytoms dissappered, and I was ok until I started taking SSRIs in my
late 60s. Make sure, if you do go, to find someone who practices
both cog. ther. and sexual problems.

My problem like yours was performance anx.

I tag onto this. I think that the psychothreapy might be more time
consuming and costly than needed.

In my own case, it was a case of getting my brain re-wired to the right
stimulii. I got hooked up with Viagra side effects and my brain
signaled erections from those rather than the better stuff (visuals, lip
senses, warm skin on the belly, crotch fragrences etc.) Once you
"couple" to the right sensory items you should be OK. If you are PTSD
from child abuse then Cog Thereapy (CBT) might appropriate. Hang in there.
