Gyno Surgery -- do we have a place for photos

| I am going to have gyno surgery sometime early next year.
Do we have a place for (headless) before and after photos? Or are we
doing all of that in Yahoo Groups now?
I met with a surgeon last week and discussed the process. I decided to
meet with a surgeon before the end of the year so I could figure out
how much money I should set aside in my 125 plan (as it happens I may
not be able to use 125 money for this as it may be considered
cosmetic.)
My insurance specifically states that Gynecomastia Surgery is not
covered. However, as I have a pituitary tumor the surgeon is going to
submit it anyway -- prior to surgery -- to see what my provider says.
I'm going to pursue surgery regardless.
The nurse did a pre-interview. I told her that if I couldn't make the
boobies smaller I'd at least like them perkier. She laughed and I
asked if all the guys said that. She said I was the first. It's always
nice to be original.
The doc came in and asked me to remove my shirt. I told him that
typically made me uncomfortable but I was sure he'd seen it all. He
said he had -- as a matter of fact, just that morning.
He had me lay back on the table and then he felt me up. Okay, he poked
around on me.
He said I have some breast tissue -- I don't recall all the details --
and we discussed what might be done.
FWIW, while I'm on the table I'm going to have the tummy tucked.
(Since treatment for my hormone problem has started I've dropped over
110 pounds. At my age the skin doesn't rebound the way it did when I
was younger. I will probably drop 20 more before surgery.)
I have some sagging/stretching which means the nipple area (areola --
I'll continue to use nipple area to describe this) and skin has
stretched. The stretching/sagging means that lipposuction will not
work in my case and some cutting will be required. To make the nipple
area look better it will have to be removed and grafted back on. The
doc says I will lose sensitivity ... I told him the last time I
remembered any sensitivity was back when my prolactin was high and the
dog jumped on me and hit me in the chest -- it caused so much pain my
eyes teared up.
(I imagine I'll lose my ability to cut glass with my nipples when they
get cold.)
If something goes wrong I could lose a nipple area.
There will be some scarring. I have a scar on my hand and I asked if
it would be something like that -- he said, "No. It will be more
noticeable." A guy earlier in the week asked if he could make the
scar look worse -- he was a biker and wanted something to show his
buddies.
Anyway. I'm not worried about a scar or two or three. I can't imagine
they'll look like that thing running down Frankenstein's Monster's
head.
With the gyno surgery he said I could expect to miss a week of work,
maybe less. Being active as early as possible is important to prevent
blood clots. He said there won't be too much discomfort. I'll be back
in the gym in under a month.
The tummy tuck will be more painful. That may lead to something more
than a week of missed work.
I need to lose all the weight I want to lose prior to surgery. I'm on
track to be ready by March.
Cost for the gyno is $5200. The tummy tuck is something more.
Together, at the same time, they come in under $10,000. I've known
this was coming and have taken steps to be ready money-wise.
It will be nice to go swimming with my kids this summer.

You can post pictures to www.tinypic.com They will host the picture and
give you a tiny URL that you can share with others so they can view the
picture. This is good if you only have a few pictures.

Man, that's great. A lot of us here would be in your shoes (on your O.R.
table?) had we not had the opportunity to be here when we did and the wisdom
of those before us. You're making a great move.
I'd be interested in the details of your tummy tuck. I'm retiring next year,
and the wife is quitting. As a reward for putting up with my B.S. for the
last 12 years, she's going to cash out her retirment and have a tummy tuck
and breast reduction/shaping. So I got some intrest!
