I am having trouble. As posted before, sleep apnea, diabetes, type 2,
venous leakage. Uro says ed due to leakage & nerve damage. Here is my
problem. Although I cannot get, maintain an erection, as per earlier posts.
My brain says I still have the need to orgasm & ejaculate. I can't seem to
do this. This is not an all the time problem but it seems to be increasing.
I can masturbate for long periods of time and nothing. It is like I almost
desperate but cannot complete the task. In most medical books it says that
impotent can still orgasm & ejaculate. I am wondering if something else is
adding to this. Any ideas?

Are you heave into coffee (or any caffeine)? Do you think you might have
better luck in the mornings? Have you dried a different lubricant?

I wonder if electro-stimulation (ES or E-Stim) would be beneficial? Since
erection, orgasm, and ejaculation are distinctly different processes, maybe
you could achieve orgasm and ejaculate through ES. Being new here, I don't
know if this has been discussed. ES uses a power unit specially designed
for the task, a TENS unit, or even an audio source such as your computer's
sound card connected to electrodes that attach to various body parts. By
varying the amplitude, frequency, and rhythm, you can achieve orgasm.
Sometimes this is used to gather sperm from men who can not otherwise
ejaculate. Here is a like to a source of equipment but you can do a google
search for more information:

and a Google search

hi spike - this is a common situation with the men who have had surgery
for prostate cancer.

erections may return at a later date (up to 3 years later) if they are
lucky, but in the meantime, the brain is wanting a release.
and diabetes doesn't help the situation. but we have men who have
diabetes, had the RP, and still can have some sexual relief. if you are
interested, you may contact me.

i don't mean any disrespect to the newsgroup. this is a great
newsgroup. most of the men have ED problems that are here and as one
knows, there are many different reasons. but when a man develops
prostate cancer and is facing impotence - whether it is by surgery or by
radiation or cyrosurgery, it's a whole new ball game as compared to when
you just had ED without being physically damaged.

for anyone here lurking or falls into this category that i've described.
may i also suggest a book called, "making love again" by the lakens.
it is a husband and wife who faced prostate cancer and it is there
accounts as to what they did to overcome the hardships that the disease
brought into their marriage.

hope this helps,

So far no prostate problems. Just diabetes, sleep apneia, and ed supposedly
caused by the diabetes and venus leakage. I don't know I just get tired of
the problems. I don't use any lube. Is that bad also? Thanks for the help

A few questions, Spike:

How was venous leakage diagnosed? How was nerve damage diagnosed? What meds
are you currently taking? What ED meds have you tried? Were any successful?
Are you currently with a partner? Have you sought a second opinion on your
ED? What part of the world are you located in? When you say you can
masturbate for long periods of time... with a hard erection? Or your penis is
soft and you are tugging at it? How old are you? Have you had hormonal blood
work done? What are the lifestyle factors? Do you drink, smoke, overindulge
in caffeine (soda, coffee, etc.)? Are you overweight? Sedentary? None of us
are doctors here, but knowing more about you as an individual will help us
come up with intelligent suggestions.

Are you on SSRI antidepressants? They will cause problems with
ejaculation and will stop it dead.

As an option, you may try getting weekly prostate massages from a
urologist or trained body worker. Sometimes that gets the "works" going
again. Your gland might be congested and the massage might be the thing
to release the contents.

Here's something I found while researching electro stim:
http://www.infertility-male.com/treatment/eej.htm

toward the bottom of the page it talks about using Sudafed in heavy
doses to encourage ejaculation. Opinions? Reasoning?

It depends on what you mean by a heavy dose. Sudafed can really dry you up,
cause insomnia, jitter, nausea, constipation, and increase blood pressure
and heart rate. I am pretty sensitive to it myself, so even a whole
Cleratin D or Allegra D will mess me up. Also, since Sudafed is a key
ingredient in crystal met production, you may find it difficult to buy large
quantities or even smaller quantities frequently.

I suppose that since it is a sympathetic nervous system agonist, I can see
how it might facilitate orgasm, just as amphetamines can cause orgasm. It
probably isn't very efficient and therefore the side effects will be too
objectionable at sufficient levels to stimulate orgasm. Also, I would
speculate that the people who are interested in E-stim are generally
younger, healthier people who would be less likely to have adverse cardiac
events with large doses.
