Prolactin-Perhaps This Is How Zinc or Oysters Work

| Zinc was shown to inhibit prolactin secretion from the anterior pituitary.
Brandao-Neto et al studied the response of plasma prolactin to oral zinc
administration in healthy male and female adults, and observed that
prolactin concentrations significantly decreased below basal levels in
response to the increase in plasma zinc levels in all the subjects.42
Although the inhibitory mechanism is not clear, zinc might affect the
reproductive function through the fluctuation of prolactin secretion in
humans.

I have high prolactin and have had some trouble (compared to others, I
think) getting it where it should be. I currently take Dostinex twice
a week -- three pills each time. Two pills twice a week is the high
end per the manufacturers website.
Anyway, I have gyno, and over the past several months or more I've
noticed that there have been times when my breast tissue feels more
breast like (um, fuller) than other times. Once in a while I wondered
if I were getting good and bad batches of Dostinex.
At the end of my kid's Christmas break (the boys and I went to my
parents) I had that full feeling again. It occurred to me on the drive
home that I hadn't take my vitamins on vacation with me ... and that
had been the case during my last episode of feeling fuller. I thought
then that missing my zinc might be the culprit (I hadn't make the
zinc/prolactin jump, however)
There was a post a couple of days in which it was suggested zinc might
play a role in controlling prolactin. Based on that post I'd started
typing one up asking if any other High Prolactin sufferers had had
similar experiences (a full feeling when zinc was missed). As I typed
it I decided it sounded a bit insane and a trifle needy ... so I
deleted it.
Thanks for the info and the link. Maybe I'm not as insane as I'd
feared. As for the neediness ... well, we all need validation from
time to time (I still get a warm fuzzy feeling when the credit card
reader at the supermarket flashes "Approved.")
