Author Low Labido or ED

I have been suffering with ED type symptoms for the last 6 months and
have recently visited a urologist. He has given me Cialis to take and
I took my first tablet the other day. It seems to work well and seemed
to last for days longer than expected. I am talking like four days of
comfortable erections.

But I have some questions. I seem to have no drive for sex in general
and I do not seem to get aroused very easily. I want to know a simple
question:

Do men with ED feel aroused but cannot get an erection or do they feel
nothing like I do. I mean do guys who suffer from ED want to have sex/
get horny but the erectile side simply fails.

I find myself very under aroused in general. Porn does nothing for me
and I generally have no desire for chasing sex.

Whats more funny is that I am 27 years old!!!

The reason I am asking these questions is that I want to work out if I
suffer from ED or a very weak labido which is thus causing a low
erectile function.

I am able to maintain an erection in the morning but at night it does
not happen for me but I also am often forcing myself.

I am on medical treatment for epilepsy which I beleive may be causing
my problems and I am looking into this as I speak. I recently had some
testosterone tests done and one showed under. I am hoping this is the
key to the problem but my Urologist seems to have just labelled me an
ED patient and drugged me up.

My case is very complicated and is taking time for me to sort out. I
am going to get looked at by a Edocranologist (not the correct
spelling) - the guys that sort your hormones out but thats in the
process. For now I guess its just Cialis and something to increase my
desire.

Your answers and advise will be greeted with much thanks.

Sean.

Sean,

It sounds like you are taking right steps. I waited far too long
before telling my doc I had low libido.

I don't know how epiliepsy medication affects libido or ED -- but I
know how low testosterone does. My low T caused low libido and with it
came ED ... I would lose an erection while receiving oral sex.

Cialis isn't supposed to increase your desire, so don't be
disappointed if it doesn't. It does help with ED when the desire is
there but the tools don't work.

As for the feeling you are forcing yourself -- I remember having
absolutely no interest in sex. When my wife told me she thought we
should have sex three times a week I remember thinking that that would
kill me -- it seemed like a lot of work.

Prior to going to an Endo I asked my primary care physician for the
following bloodwork, based on info collected here:
SHBG, FSH, Testosterone, Estradiol, Prolactin, TSH,
LH, Free T, Total Estrogens and DHEA

The following link will take you to a posting with descriptions for
the above tests (clipped from another poster's posting)

FWIW, I am being treated for high prolactin -- which depresses my
testosterone.

You say getting to an endo is in the works. If you haven't already
made an appointment to see one, get on the ball. My appointment was 3
months out when I made it -- I asked to be put on a cancellation list
and was in in 6 weeks.

If you have the interest you can read the 3-year history of my problem
at http://tinyurl.com/4k6s4

.... not because it's particularly gripping or necessarily a
page-turner -- I just know that when I was trying to figure out what
was going on I read everything I could.

Good luck, let us know how it goes.

Hi,

I agree you probably need to be seen by a competent endocrinologist and they
are as hard to find as hens teeth.

The recent interest in hormone therapy has brought endo doctors out of the
woodwork. Basically most are specializing in the item of interest at the
moment with the technical help from pharmaceutical reps. This is almost
criminal.

You have to defend yourself from poor endos by having a grasp of the
subject, Sorry to tell you it is much better to spend the money and read
several books even though you have to spend lots of time to do this. You
will otherwise be drug around by the nose till you get fed up and change
doctors again.

"The Testosterone Syndrome", by Dr. Shippen, is available for $14.95 @
Barnes and Noble.

Dr. R. Don Gambrell has been treating man for andropause for decades and
couples with fertility problems. He is also an OB/GYN. His web site has a
tutorial type presentation available, you might want to read.

Testosterone provides desire and temporarily usually an improved erectile
performance. If your basic problem is low T you may be lucky and also have
your erection problem go away. Frequently us older guys have very gradual ED
creeping in over several years because of nerve performance weakening.

This type of ED is treated by urologists and helped with viagra and others
until the nerve function is just too poor for erections to happen. After
nerves go bad there is still an opportunity for injection ED therapy. These
are trimix which I like best, bimix and caverject. Injections can provide a
very firm and long lasting erection. Several hours allows very leisurely sex
which couples usually enjoy.

There are many things like sterility associated with TRT you need to
understand beforehand. Also several different types of medical conditions
that can cause a low T level or libido such as diabetes or even so extreme
as brain tumors.

These symptoms should be brought to the attention of your GP who will pick
up on low libido causes if you ask him/her to persue it.
