Severe Inconsistency Problems with ED Drugs

| Greetings,
I am a 45 year old diabetic, so my ED is fairly problematic, but I'd
like some general advice.
I have problems with consistency. When I first tried ED drugs I tried
Viagra, which I didn't like because of the facial flushing. Then I
tried a full 20 mg Cialis which was very nice at first, but soon became
inadequate. About six months ago I gave up Cialis, because it was not
reliable, and would often produce a lot of tumescence without much in
the way of erection. Now I'm back on Viagra--usually a 25-35 mg chunk,
but it doesn't work reliably. One day it will perform OK, another day
it won't. Some days it seems like you couldn't get a reaction out of my
penis with jumper cables and a car battery.
I occasionally take Arginine with V, but that doesn't seem reliable
either. My penis is noticeably smaller than it used to be and I do not
get nocturnal or morning erections.
I am statistically overweight, but fairly fit and it's mostly muscle. I
typically use a treadmill about 5 days a week. I occasionally work with
weights as well. I'm actually in somewhat better shape than I was when
I was young. As a non-diabetic young man I was in lazy shape but had an
impressively large phallus. Now I have a much smaller one that sputters
with use of ED drugs. It's pretty depressing.
Viagra does not seem to work for me on a truly empty stomach...I'm
guessing this is a blood sugar issue.
I drink caffeine in the form of sodas or tea, and I have all my life.
Generally when I take Viagra I lay off this and I have some of my
better moments drinking beer instead. However this only makes the
facial flushing more obvious, and my cheeks light up like Rudolph the
Reindeer's nose.
I know diabetes is a problem but I also suspect that I'm low on
testosterone. The one time I had it checked and saw an actual number on
the readout it was about 300. At the time I was working out with
weights every week fairly vigorously. Last year I had my testosterone
checked and the test slip just said "normal" with no number. I am
guessing it's still around 300.
I'm open to any advice but also specifically would like to know:
-Is there any way to lessen the facial redness with Viagra?
-What's a good remedy for testosterone issues? Is Andro-gel any good
and if so how can I get it? (My doctor isn't too keen on dealing with
this at all so I'm confused.)
-Is it possible the big problem is prostate-related? (Mine's never been
small.)
-Is a switch to Trimix feasible? How does it compare in price to Viagra
and do all pharmacies carry it? Does it cause facial flushing?

| Hi,
I assume you have been doing some reading and understand your erection
nerves are probably deteriorating primarily due to the diabetes. The nerve
paths for erections must be working to some degree to allow Viagra and the
others to work.
Trimix does not require these nerve paths and I suggested it to a diabetic
friend who tried it and uses it successfully now. He is much older than you,
about 70 and enjoys a very firm erection that lasts for several hours. It
allows very leisurely sex and my SO enjoys the extra time to cuddle before
and after. I pay $120 including shipping for 10ml from Franck's Pharmacy in
Ocala FL. You must get a prescription from a doctor that provides this form
or ED therapy. I went to Dr. Goldstein, Boston Univ. in 1992 after reading
his book, "The Potent Male" which describes the many forms of therapy of
that day plus the penile implants back then. Think he has written more books
on this subject that might be available from Barnes and Noble.
I got a sample injection and a full examination on my first of three visits
to Boston, which lasted 4 hours before it was injected to bring down the
erection in a few minutes. The amount injected was not predetermined so it
was high enough to ensure most patients will have a firm erection. I was
amazed and knew I would have to find a way to inject myself as I and my wife
could not do without the very frim erection. It still works very well after
more than 10 years. A 10ml vial is about 100 injections and much cheaper
than caverject which does not perform as well either. Trimix is faster,
firmer and longer lasting. I was encouraged to try different amounts by 10%
to see if I liked more or less. When it lasts for 4 hours it is not
enjoyable usually as it gets very tender before it goes down.
Another book is essential for you regarding hormone therapy as you are
probably going to get into the circus of trying to find a competent
endocrinologist and you must understand many of them have received no formal
training and receive their information/tutoring from pharmaceutical reps.
This is near criminal that they can move into the hormone therapy field with
so little skill. You must weed them out to get the treatment you need.
The many forms of testosterone therapy frequently cause spurts of hormone in
the body and the body reacts by converting T to estrogen, E2 which causes
severe symptoms and has to be treated. TRT will also make you sterile in a
period of time, maybe a couple of years because your normal source of T,
your testicles, shuts down. You must also have a PSA test as you could have
a high reading making it unwise for you to start hormone therapy.
TRT is not an ED cure for you probably, even though you will have several
weeks of fantastic erections while your level of T is going up.Once you
reach the high normal level, the ED will return. I was really ticked off
when that happened and I found out I still had my ED problem to deal with.
I receive 20 - 75mg hormone pellets every 4 months since I started in 1991.
Dr. R. Don Gambrell, Augusta GA has been treating couple infertility and men
with andropause for decades. He is both an Endocrinologist and an OB/GYN.
You can get more information on him on GOOGLE. His mentor, Dr. Greenblatt,
now deceased, was a pioneer in hormone therapy since the 50's and taught at
Georgia Medical college in Augusta. You also can check his credentials on
the internet also. I travel down from upstate NY every 4 months where most
of my cost is cared for by medicare. Medicare doesn't cover it in other
parts of the country.
Dr. Gambrell's web site is:

| Thanks for your advice. Trimix does sound promising. I may mention it
to my doctor on my next visit.
