50 years old, testosterone leve of just under 400. Any
recommendations for a supplement that can boost testosterone level
safely naturally and effectively. I don't want to get an injection. I
know that supplements are perhaps not safe in the sense that they are
not precise but I am afraid to get testostone without more medical
study. My family has a very strong history of cancer.

Hi,

It is a very good idea not to take supplements as they do not usually work
and cost a lot. After years of moving from one to another you are still
suffering low testosterone.

There are many forms of testosterone therapy and all should be taken with
the advice of a doctor that is knowlegeable. Too many doctors are getting
into hormone therapy without having formal training and you have to sort
through those taking advice from pharmaceutal reps wanting to sell their
expensive forms of therapy. Read books like "The Testosterone Syndrome" by
Dr. Eugene Shippen, $14.95 at Barnes and Noble. You have to be smart enough
to get rid of poor doctors and you need the technical information.

My endocrinologist, Dr. Gambrell, Augusta GA, has been treating andropause
(men) for decades. He is an OB/GYN doctor also treating couples with
fertility problems. Check him out on GOOGLE.

His web site is:

He also takes questions on specific problems.

Hollywood types used to fly in every 4 months in the 80's for hormone
pellets to be installed under the skin. The gels and creams work, but not as
well according to my doctor as they do not raise the level of T high enough.
Pellets are realtively cheap, $1350/year and are trouble free for 4 months.

You might check out an herb called Tribulus. Also check out Vitex, they are
both supposed to increase LH levels from the pituitary thus causing your
testicles to produce more T. That is, if your testicles are capable of
producing more T. Since youre 50, and Im assuming not planning to have kids,
why not just start on an anti-aging testosterone regimen?

They have gels out there and pills which older men can use as a permanent
testosterone replacement therapy for the rest of their old age. Hey, it may
not be natural, but atleast youll feel better..

You only live once.

Do you know if Tribulus or the Gels that you mentioned reduce natural
Testosterone production? Thanks

Tribulus increases natural T production where as a testosterone replacement
gel shuts down your testicular T production.
