So a quote by a guy who died in 1778 has relevance to modern
medicine...how? I don't think they even knew what caused scurvy back
then, did they?

| Actually Mark ... it has as much relevance today as then.
Women daily are sent away from their Medical Deities with a myriad of
complications from their breast implants and told it's all in their
head (thanks in part to the PR campaign of ACSH and it's quacky
quackwatch front groups) ... when in fact, the fact is ... the doctors
don't know how the implants are destroying their health.
Just replace "drugs'" here with "med device" and you're right on!

very true statement concerning medical care in the 18th century.
Not very applicable today.

I think a cure for scurvy was known, either limes (limeys= british
navy) or sauerkraut.

breast implants are more popular than ever.
I think you are engaged in a lost cause.

| The hundreds of thousands of women being duped by the breast implant
industy are NOT "lost causes" ... they are your mother, sister, lover,
friend or YOU. Many are just awakening from the silicone ether and
realizing that their myriad of health problems are shared by untold
numbers of other implant recipients.
They deserve to have unbiased, non industry related information
available to them ... and I will continue to offer it to them for no
charge ... and connect them together, despite of the industry
campaigns against me.

Um, breast implants that women are voluntarily spending $$$ on because
it makes them look good. Implants that were pulled from the market
because of question of ill health that could not be substantiated or
proven were/are(?) back on the market. Women will leave the country
day in and day out to seek out cosmetic surgery that is not available
in the US no matter the risks.
And I'll bet good money Voltaire never saw a FDA drug application.

| The only concern I have about wasting money on trying to please men, is
that they're all selfish morons and not worth even spending your *time*
on, much less risking your health.
There needs to be some consensus on the relative intelligence of men.
Who started these last two war, and most of all the others: men or
women?
Was the effort worth the outcome?
Were the health and welfare needs of all people increased or decreased?
Girls need to be taught that men are irreconcilable idiots, and worthy
of only a very low investment risk.

Let's take a loot at some other Voltaire quotes....
"Opinions have caused more ills than the plague or earthquakes on this
little globe of ours."
"I have never made but one prayer to God, a very short one: "O Lord,
make my enemies ridiculous!" And God granted it."
"May we not return to those scoundrels of old, the illustrious founders
of superstition and fanaticism, who first took the knife from the altar
to make victims of those who refused to be their disciples?"
or maybe just
"A witty saying proves nothing."
Cheers,
Eric

low. A freaking epidemic causing alzheimers,ALS,Fibro, Suicides, and on

Jan, if this second quote from Voltaire means that you consider me an
enemy, I pity you. I don't consider you to be my enemy...you're a
daffy old bat, but you're not an enemy.

Yet again Jan demonstrates her inability to recognise irony.

You of course acknowledge that women who have breast implants will complain
of complications that are nonexistent, or in their head", right? Or does
that happen to every other other surgical patient except breast implants?

think aspergillus niger is all in the head of the woman who wrote me

Do you think that every person who ever seeks medical attention has a
physical problem? Yes or no? Of course we all know the answer to be no.
That said, is it unreasonable to assume that breast implants behave like
other humans, within some reasonable margin of difference? Of course so.
Thus, some breast implant patients will seek medical attention for problems
that are, as you say, "in their head". This is absolutely undeniable. How,
then, Ilena, do you sort out the "quacks", as you obviously like to call
people with your limited vocabulary, from those with real problems? Oh, you
must use your medical degree that you don't have...
