Subject: Who gets to bring Note pads in Court
Date: Wed, 3 May 2006 20:02:49 -0400
Dear Ms. Farley:
I am writing to inquire what the Judicial Department's
position is on bringing in note taking materials to
our various Courts. I have practiced in many
courtrooms, both state and federal and in New Jersey
as well, and I was perplexed to hear that Judge Susco
has no issued
(apparently) an order that, "You can't take notes here
[in the courtroom]."
I understand that the COURT ORDER was directed at
reporters, which raises considerable First Amendment
issues for me. I expect the reporters from the papers
I read to be able to "note" what is occurring in our
courtrooms. As you know they are the "eyes and
ears" for the public. We have a right to know what
happens.
Needless to say, the judiciary's track record the past
few months has been disappointing to say the least.
Opinions held back by the Chief Justice to help a
fellow Justice get promoted. Denial of FOI status to
what anyone who isn't smoking dope would agree are
administrative records, and now denial of the press
and apparently anyone from taking notes in a
courtroom. Wow! Some times I feel as though some
time warp has occurred and we have reverted back to
the cold war, lost it to the "Evil Empire" Soviet
Union and our Constitution thereafter scraped for some
"New World Order" called Corrupticut Law.
I wonder if the Court's order was enforced up
Prosecutors, and other government agents in the same
manner as others.
Finally, if I were to go to one of your Courtrooms
tomorrow and start taking notes, will I be in contempt
of court?
The fact that you and your cohorts at the judiciary
have not come out and immediately disavowed this
outrageous and draconian order speaks volumes about
the extent of corruption in Connecticut, "the land of
steady habits" needs to be renamed "the land that
eviscerated the Constitution."
Please let me know as soon as possible, because I want
to be able to go tomorrow and take some notes!
Sincerely,
Jim Brewer

As you can see, I am not exaggerating. It's worse
than Soviet Russia in Corrupticut today, but the FBI
says they investigate corruption?
Die laughing.
Kathleen
