Fish and McSweegan didn't want it known that people should be treated

hundreds of thousands of people to acquire a permanent brain infection,
just because they wanted to have a FRAUDULENT vaccine trial- Yale's
LYMErix vaccine.
Ray Dattwyler and Ben Luft (SUNY Stony Brook) find that Lyme has
invaded the brain/Central Nervous System in 2/3 of the cases where
people have a Lyme rash with symptoms, discussing these findings to the
FDA in June 1994.
Yale's Durland Fish and NIH's Edward McSweegan conspire to discredit
the Lyme Disease Foundation by sending them "a bogus article" to
publish in their journal. They were nervous about the discovery that
Lyme transmits in ~9 hours, because that would mean people should be
treated upon tick attachment, rather than wait for the Lyme rash to
show up- which at the time, they were saying was the standard of care.
If people were to be treated for Lyme upon tick attachment, then,
during the LYMErix vaccine trial, the vaccine trial administrators
could not state whether antibiotic treatment or the vaccine prevented
Lyme. The only way to have a vaccine trial, was, therefore TO LIE, TO
DEFRAUD the public, over how fast Lyme transmits. McSweegan and Fish
were clearly pissed that their scam was being interfered with. Lyme
disease is not an arthritis. It is a borreliosis- a permanent brain
infection.

quicker way to make your political troubles "go away" than a child

The accused instantly finds their credibility, honor, and social

variation of B. burgdorferi and the role of atypical forms in Lyme
borreliosis, borreliae isolated from antibiotically treated and
untreated patients with the clinical diagnosis of definite and probable
Lyme borreliosis and from patient specimens contaminated with bacteria
were investigated. Furthermore, the degeneration of the isolates during
exposure to penicillin G in vitro was analysed. Morphological analysis
by darkfield microscopy and scanning electron microscopy revealed
diverse alterations. Persisters isolated from a great number of
patients (60-80%) after treatment with antibiotics had an atypical
form. The morphological alterations in culture with penicillin G
developed gradually and increased with duration of incubation.
Pleomorphism, the presence of elongated forms and spherical structures,
the inability of cells to replicate, the long period of adaptation to
growth in MKP-medium and the mycoplasma-like colonies after growth in
solid medium (PMR agar) suggest that B. burgdorferi produce
spheroplast-L-form variants. With regard to the polyphasic course of
Lyme borreliosis, these forms without cell walls can be a possible
reason why Borrelia survive in the organism for a long time (probably
with all beta-lactam antibiotics) [corrected] and the
cell-wall-dependent antibody titers disappear and emerge after
reversion.

concentration of analyte. Therefore a loud Western Blot means nothing.

(TLR) 2 and independent of TLR 4. Synthetic analogs of lipopeptides

ability of MTB 19-kDa lipoprotein to activate microbicidal and innate
immune functions early in infection, TLR 2-dependent inhibition of
MHC-II expression and Ag processing by MTB 19-kDa lipoprotein during

of Lyme disease in pregnant women who were identified before knowledge
of the pregnancy outcomes. Nineteen cases were identified with onset
between 1976 and 1984. Eight of the women were affected during the
first trimester, seven during the second trimester, and two during the
third trimester; in two, the trimester of onset was unknown. Thirteen
received appropriate antibiotic therapy for Lyme disease. ***Of the 19
pregnancies, five had adverse outcomes, including syndactyly, cortical
blindness, intrauterine fetal death, prematurity, and rash in the
newborn. Adverse outcomes occurred in cases with infection during each
of the trimesters. Although B burgdorferi could not be implicated
directly in any of the adverse outcomes, the frequency of such outcomes

tripalmitoyl-S-glyceryl-Cys-Ser-Lys(4)-OH (Pam(3)Cys), a synthetic
lipopeptide that mimics the structure of the lipoprotein lipid moiety.
L-OspA elicited not only astrocyte proliferation but also apoptosis,
two features observed during astrogliosis. Astrocytes produced both
IL-6 and TNF-alpha in response to L-OspA and Pam(3)Cys. Proliferation
induced by L-OspA was diminished in the presence of an excess of
anti-IL-6 antibody, and apoptosis induced by this lipoprotein was
completely suppressed with anti-TNF-alpha antibody. Hence, IL-6
contributes to, and TNF-alpha determines, astrocyte proliferation and
apoptosis, respectively, as elicited by lipoproteins. Our results
provide proof of the principle that spirochetal lipoproteins could be
key virulence factors in Lyme neuroborreliosis, and that astrogliosis
might contribute to neuroborreliosis pathogenesis.

Date: December 10, 1993, "TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION:---This
invention relates to flagellin-based compositions and methods useful
for the diagnosis and treatment of Lyme disease. More particularly,
this invention relates to flagellin polypeptides which are useful to
detect the presence of B. burgdorferi in humans and other animals, and
which are useful to diagnose and treat neuroborreliosis, arthritis,
carditis and other manifestations of Lyme disease. Also within the
scope of this invention are antibodies directed against the flagellin
polypeptides and diagnostic kits comprising the antibodies or
polypeptides....
The neurologic manifestations of Lyme disease are protean and
include weakness, peripheral nerve palsy, radiculitis, meningitis and
encephalitis. The pathogenesis of neuroborreliosis, however, is
unclear. Examination of the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) of patients with
neuroborreliosis shows a mononuclear pleocytosis and production of B.
burgdorferi specific antibody, suggesting that inflammation is involved
in disease. In some cases, spirochetes have been cultured from the CSF
of patients with neurologic symptoms, implicating the organism directly
with disease. Experiments using mice suggest that spirochete virulence
may play a role in the development of neurologic infection.
Infection with B. burgdorferi induces a strong humoral immune
response. Early in human infection, antibodies are generated primarily
against the 41-kDa flagellar protein. In later stages, antibodies to
the outer surface proteins OspA and OspB, among others, appear [J. E.
Craft et al., "Antigens Of Borrelia burgdorferi Recognized During Lyme
Disease", J. Clin. Invest., 78, pp. 934-39 (1986)].
Antibodies to the B. burgdorferi flagellin antigen remain prominent
in patient serum during infection, and local CSF antibody production to
spirochetal antigens, including flagellin, occurs. Further, the sera
from patients with neurologic manifestations of Lyme disease have IgM
antibodies that bind human axons; binding is weak or absent in patients
without neurologic disease. The presence of high antibody titers in the
CSF correlates with clinical signs of neuroborreliosis.
At present, all stages of Lyme disease are treated with
antibiotics. Treatment of early disease is usually effective, however
the cardiac, arthritic and nervous system disorders associated with the
later stages often do not respond to therapy [A. C. Steere, "Lyme
Disease", N. Engl. J. Med., 321, pp. 586-96 (1989)].

Lyme disease, the multisystem infectious disease caused by the
tick-borne spirochete Borrelia burgdorferi, causes a broad variety of
peripheral nerve disorders, including single or multiple cranial
neuropathies, painful radiculopathies, and diffuse polyneuropathies.
Virtually all appear to be varying manifestations of a mononeuropathy
multiplex. Diagnosis requires that the patient should have had possible
exposure to the only known vectors, Ixodes ticks, and also have either
other pathognomonic clinical manifestations or laboratory evidence of
exposure. Treatment with antimicrobial regimens is highly effective.
The mechanism underlying these neuropathies remains unclear, although
interactions between anti-Borrelia antibodies and several peripheral
nerve constituent molecules raise intriguing possibilities.

CONCLUSIONS: Ceftriaxone therapy in patients with PLS with severe
fatigue was associated with an improvement in fatigue but not with
cognitive function or an experimental laboratory measure of infection
in this study. Because fatigue (a nonspecific symptom) was the only
outcome that improved and because treatment was associated with adverse
events, this study does not support the use of additional antibiotic
therapy with parenteral ceftriaxone in post-treatment, persistently
fatigued patients with PLS.
