ques for Florida folk re: hurricanes and gas stations

| I constantly see the press reports after hurricanes
showing gas stations - places that are pretty high up on
the "need to be working" locations - shut down becuase
there's no power.
Hasn't anyone figured out these facilities
should have backup power incorporated into their
design specs?
Or.. I'm hoping... is it simply that, say, 1/4 of
them _do_ have generators and the news folk highlight
the problem ones.
Thanks

Well, I'm not in FL anymore, but I grew up there, still have family there,
and visit there often.
Short answer: No, the vast majority do not have backup power. In fact, I
don't know if I've ever seen one that did.
