It's still way too early for this to be common procedure,
and it generally wouldn't be a paramedic making
the search and notification, but it's one of those
ideas that has no downside and an increasing up side...
(I personally have doen this with my cellphone).
One suggestion: make the ICE entry someone a step or
two removed from yuour most immediate family. Reason:
you don't want the callee to be a person likely
to be in the car wreck with you...

Interesting idea, in this part of the world where cell phones don't work
, we still count on the "wallet biopsy" for notification where the
patient is unable to give sufficient information. Best bet is put a
note in your wallet that gives some clue about the person who can help
make medical decicions about you -- and who to come down and take you
home -- OR -- ---
