With a loss of power wouldn't your well system fail also? With no power you
would have water flow only until your expansion tank lost it's pressure. A
better freeze protection would be to turn off the water at the entry point
into your house and drain your system. Be sure to open a couple faucets and
leave them open. I also have read that you can leave the system full as long
as the supply is off and you leave faucets open. An article that mentions
how ice plugs cause 'frost bursts' is at
http://www.ukcopperboard.co.uk/down...equirements.pdf

Also, be sure to drain your water heater, and put some RV antifreeze into
the bowl and tank of your toilets, and into your drain traps. Be sure the
antifreeze is septic tank safe before using, and don't use automotive
antifreeze!!
