I have been off of the streets for several years now, but had an
interesting situation occur on Sunday morning. We were called to a
residence for a possible MI. Arrived and found textbook symptoms with
frequent PVCs on the monitor.

Our base hospital was less than 1 mile from the residence. Victim and
his spouse DEMANDED to be taken to a tertiary facility 45 miles away.

Supervisor politely informed both VIC and Spouse we could not do this
without medical clearance. We transported to hospital ER 1 mile away
for medical clearance for transfer to tert. facility. We later
tranported VIC to tert. facility. VIC fibrillated twice enroute and
was successfully defibed. Wife was in front seat of unit with driver
and heard all of the shocking.

On Tuesday AM, wife went to County Attorney's Office and swore out
warrants for our arrest for kidnapping the VIC and transporting
against his will to WRONG hospital.

Sheriff came and gave us each a summons to Superior Court. We saw
Superior Judge at lunch the next day. He laughed so hard, I thought
we would be doing the Heimlick on him. Charges dismissed. Judge
stated he was glad he did not need to do paperwork to expunge an
arrest -- Gave Sheriff another gold star for brains.
