Epping - Saraswati Mandiram Inc., the Institute of
Holistic Health, Music, Yoga, Science and Philosophy
located in Epping, will hold a sacred Hindu "yagya," or
offering ceremony, beginning Aug. 19.

Organizers said it is expected to be the largest yagya
event ever offered in New England.

The ceremony will also celebrate the beginning of the
building process for a new college at the site of the
temple, which was destroyed by fire in 2004 (See separate
story).

The festival, called the Mayagayatri Saraswati Mahayagya,
will take place Aug. 19-21 at the Green Pastures Estate
off Route 27. More than 5,000 participants from all over
the United States and Canada are expected to attend.
There will be 108 "yagyashalas," or altars, set up for
offerings from participants.

"It will be a very interesting event," said Pandit
Ramadheen Ramsamooj, founder and director of the
institute. "The ceremonies are to pray for peace, harmony
and prosperity for all by the blessings of the Divine
Mother, especially for those in harm's way."

Ramsamooj said anyone who wants to attend the festival is
invited; the ceremony is not strictly for Hindus.

"We are all humans, we all have the same aspirations for
peace and prosperity," he said. "Any race or religion is
welcome."

An elephant, a lion, a tiger, a cow and other animals
will be respected during a "pooja," or a ritual in the
form of prayer and offerings, and special animal trainers
and experts from Florida will be present.

Other cultural events include bhajans, songs of praise
adorations or devotions to God; dances and music; and
presentations on yoga, meditation, spirituality, health
and ayurveda, an alternative health-care system.

Special guests will include Vedic scholar Dr. David
Frawley; the director of the center of Indic studies at
the university of Massachusetts, Dr. Bal Ram Sing; and
many accomplished yogis and teachers from around the
world, according to festival organizers.

Ramsamooj said the festival will celebrate peace.

"As Hindus, we respectfully live in the world, paying
tribute to all elements of life," he said. "We are
responsible for creating peace and harmony on earth. By
celebrating this way, we are trying to bring peace and
harmony to the community at large, as well as our own
community, and pay respect to animals, teachers, parents
and children. We will also be thankful and pray to God to
inspire people in authority to think globally and bring
peace and harmony to the earth."

The festival is free and open to the public. For more

The terrorist mission of Jesus stated in the Christian bible:

"Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not so send
peace, but a sword.
"For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the
daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in
law.
"And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.
