Indraprasth, October 5 - Malaria - one of the most
prevalent, destructive, widely spread disease across the
country -- could now be treated "without any side effect"
with an Ayurvedic preparation, scientists have claimed.
Scientists at Central Council for Research in Ayurved and
Siddh (CCRAS), through extensive toxicological and
clinical studies, have developed -- 'AYUSH-64' which is
found to be very effective against Malaria, Deputy
Director of the Council Dr K. D. Sharma told PTI.
The formulation has been compiled on the basis of a
number of successful clinical trials undertaken in
different parts of the country, he said.
The poly-herbal, non-toxic, anti-malarial drug which has
been made available in the market has undergone strict
trials keeping in view various aspects of the disease
both from modern and Ayurvedic point of view, he said.
"A series of clinical studies and field trials conducted
by the Council's institutions on more than 4,000 patients
of malaria, Visamajwara, confirm its efficacy," he said.
Anti-malarial effect of the drug has been established on
rats infected with 'Plasmodium Varghei', the scientist
said.
The studies conducted on adults and children keeping the
dose standard as 500 mg per kilogram body weight for 12
weeks showed that it was "safe and non-toxic", he said.
