FAQ Project: Brain-Storming. Calling all alt.yogis...

| c'mon everyone.
As Ruby Rod (5th Element) would say, brain-storming is about fast,
fast, fast!
Down and dirty; No such thing as mistakes. No judging, no strain, no
ego, just mind dump. Throw out anything and everything, we'll sort it
all out later.
We need individual questions and categories to address.
Here's what we have so far.

Howdy Jared!
If you REALLY want a database, that option is available in a
Yahoo! Group.
Course, that would mean dragging people away from here.
No pesky cross-posters tho'! ;->

Dave,
I have an affinity for Usenet. It's the original uncensored Internet
discussion paradigm. The "haves" can kill it but they can't control it!
Just like me :-)

True. I prefer the usenet as well. Yahoo groups tend to be inbred
things. I wish we could post photos though.

Stu,
I recall you mentioning this more then once over the years. Just
recently you wanted to provide some photos as an example of using yoga
props. I still haven't seen the photos.
It's easy to post a link to photos. There are a number of free photo
hosting websites.
Like http://www.flickr.com/ etc.
Recently I posted a link to some photos I took
http://groups.google.com/group/alt....b6344bb/?hl=en#
If you want to get a quick link to some photos up email them to me and
I can host them for a while on omjaroo.com.

Well, perhaps we could go to the archives to try to find out which
questions really are the most Frequently Asked Questions.
It seems to me like lots of people want to know if and how yoga will
help them get better from this or that medical condition, the kind of
questions that we always let Stu answer.
Also obesity and yoga. I have read in older books on yoga (not in
English, sorry) the seemingly heartless recommendation that if someone
is overweight, he should go on a yogic diet (no meat or fish, just
fruits, nuts, milk, butter, cereals, berries, roots, salad and such) for
some months before attempting any asanas. Luckily, it has turned out
that many asanas can be adapted to a variety of conditions including
obesity.
Yoga and pain. Some beginning yogis are too nervous about pain, while
others are recklessly ignoring it. The kind of pain that spells injury
is different than the kind of pain you get from being unpracticed. How
to describe that?
The chakras - what are they for? Are they passé already? How do you use
them?
Psychological benefits of yoga. What are they? What kinds of yoga brings
them about?
Dangers of yoga - how to avoid injury.
Occult aspects of yoga. Is it magic? Is it of the devil? Why didn't that
creepy wizard Alisteir Crowley turn a better man from practicing yoga?
Is Buddhism yoga? Is Christianity yoga? Is Hinduism yoga?
I may be able to think of more stuff later.

Doing it gently, and just the basic "stop eating when you get full enough"
rather than the old common in England (possibly from rationing times which
our grandparents went through) "Don't allow it to go to waste" approach.

What you've come up with looks excellent to me!

Thanks. I took pictures of me sitting on blankets and sent them
directly to Mamadu. I am not sure how good these pictures are for
public consumption anyway. I had to set the camera up and run in front
of it. Cut off my head, was not really in a good yogic pose. It got
the blankets idea through. If I need to do something like it again I
will email you. There also is a way for me to do it on Mac.com. I am
afraid of posting my .mac address here because of the spam problems. I
have accidently posted email address on the usenet and my spam explodes.
