Anyone out there have an opinion on yoga studio management software.
I'm looking at MindBody online, WellWorks and GenusSales.

Mindbody looks pretty costly to run (!!), Wellworks needs me to install
locally. I want a web-based tool that is not too expensive.

Any advice is welcome!

Hi Robert,

Welcome to alt.yoga.

I'm afraid I have no awareness of programs you refered to. But this is
an interesting idea.

Can you list some of the issues which make managing the information of
a yoga studio unique? In otherwords what is it you want the software to
handle that couldn't be set up in access, quicken, etc?

Hi,

I have helped several studios get up and running on MindBody. The
program is solid with ability to start smaller and upgrade to more of a
web presence. I know of dozens of studios using it and have never
heard of anyone changing.

I'm hunting for something for my wife who actually runs a small, but
fast growing practice. She has a few contractors as well and the time
she is spending doing all the paperwork is not so good for me, or her.

We're going to try out genussales as is by far the least expensive to
get going. If it doesn't work out we'll try another. One of her
contracters used Dharma but didn't find it easy to use but that could
be a personal thing.

If I come back here crying it means I'm still looking for something.

Thanks Jim,

I've no doubt Mindbody is great, but we were quoted about 600 dollars
to get going and 150 per month that is wayyyyyy too much for us right
now.

Genus came in at around 56 bucks a mnth with no setup fees (5 teachers,
300 students, 2 locations).

So we're going to try and If it doesn't work we'll try Dharma next. It
is also a web based app.

It's wonderful when you find out folks are speaking about you via
Google!

I work for GenusSales, and we found this thread on google and, needless
to say, we were happy about it.

It might be too late for many to read this but if any of you do and
contact GenusSales at sales@genussales.com and mention this thread
we'll give you a month free!

And GenusSales has NO SETUP fees as in ZIP, NADDA.

It has EVERYTHING you need; student portal, online payments ... no
solution beats us in the feature war and we clobber them all on
pricing.

If you run a studio with more than 25 students stop doing paperwork and
get GenusSales.

Individual teachers are charged only 10 bucks per month!

thx Todd W.

Todd,

It's nice to be noticed :-) And welcome to alt.yoga.

While we're not really big on promoting commerical products, we do try
to be helpful and almost always someone will try to answer any question
you may have (as long as its a real one :-)

snip ad :-)

If you do a google groups search on alt.yoga [teach+charge] you can
read some interesting and pointed discussion regarding yoga and money.
This might be worth your while to review and add to your marketing
frame of reference.

I remember that in the original alt.yoga FAQ it was said that limited
advertisement of yoga related products was tolerated. Advertisers were
adviced never to advertise more often than once every three weeks, or
less than that whenever there seemed to be much advertising going on.

I wonder what happened to that FAQ. And the other one, too. I think Hari
Har Singh put that one up on a web server somewhere in Germany.

700e,

A faq for alt.yoga is an interesting idea and something I personally
have been thinking about for a while now.

I don't remember ever seeing it.

It's not like faq's have any force or effect on how people behave on
usenet. I think they do provide good guidance for beginners. I don't
generally cut n' paste answers to peoples questions, from something I
have already written. I tend to answer each question fresh, but
although personalized, this is very inefficient.

After 20 minutes I can't find the FAQ. However I did run across some of
Hari's work at:

Some interesting background on FAQ

Perhaps we can create a new one :-)
