Well Hi,

And welcome to alt.yoga.

I can't say anything about India; never been there. Reading the "City
of Joy" is the closest I've been. I recommend this book to any aspiring
yogi.

I hope you will share what you learn and your experiences if/when you
get back :-)

Advice. I would suggest that if you are not familiar with it already
that you look into a product called "nutribiotic GSE" and take some
along with you. It's a grapefruit seed extract that is effective for
preventing and treating parasites.

As far as furthering yourself, I might suggest, taking the equivalent
of the time and money you will spend when you go to India and apply it
someday, anonymously (as a volunteer and in donation) to some aspect
of your community which you feel is in need. Perhaps one inwhich you
feel the least familiar or comfortable. This will be very "furthering"
indeed and is an excellent exercise in Karma Yoga.

Hello,

Kriya Yoga was revived by Mahavtar Babaji who passed Kriya diksha to
his devotee Lahri Mahasaya to spread....One of Lahri Mahasaya's
devotee.....Sri Yukteshwar Giri gave Kriya Yoga to his devotee
Paramhansa Yogananda who through his organizations 'Yogoda Satsanga
Society of India', and 'Self Realization Fellowship', spread Kriya Yoga
to India and the world. The first mention of Kriya Yoga was in the
Bhagawad Gita by Krishna. However the Kriya Yoga of Sage Patanjali from
the classical text of Yoga differs from the one by Swami Paramahamsa.

The address of the Yogoda Satsanga Society is
http://yssofindia.org/index.htm which has three centres at Ranchi,
Dakshineshwar and Dwarahat all of them in the north of India. They
don't have any branches in Puri.

The name of the ashram founded by Sri Yukteshwar Giri is called Karar
Ashram in Puri, the address is http://www.kararashram.info/ You can
contact them directly for further info.
