Nearly any stretch that rotates the femur head will stretch the tiny
piriformis. Usually along with the piriformis the buttock's muscles
are stretched as well. These are huge muscles that go to support the
legs. Prolly a better target for stretching.

The piriformis will stretch when the femor is turned in or out. A well
rounded sequence of standing, lying, and sitting asanas should work the
piriformis.
Back issues?

No, not yet but do you mean that by different standing, lying and sitting
asanas
you stretch the piriformis in different ways and that is better? One way is
not enough?
Sometimes they say that by stretching a muscle the result is that he will
shorten for a while
this is nonsense? People with back problems cannot confirm this shortening
effect?

You get a more complete stretch if you target a muscle from a variety
of angles. The piriformis is especially tricky because it is in a
place that gets very little natural movement (unlike say the knee).
Very often it is of more help to work the muscles around the problem
muscle.
Instead of taking my word for it. The best way to test this is on your
self. Try it one way for a week and then try another way for a week.
Experiment with combinations. As long as you don't force a stretch and
keep structural integrety, there is not much you can do in the way of
damage by experimenting.
Try to set a benchmark to test your flexibility. How far can I bend
without rolling my back? How far can I lift a leg?
See how your practice effects your flexibilty.

I have never heard or experienced shortening from stretching.
Shortening comes from lack of use, as in sitting on one's hamstrings
all day. Or it can come from working a muscle, that tends to build up
the cell walls without adding fluid. Or damaging a muscle that results
in inflamation. Slow and careful stretching should attract fluid to
the area. The cell wall will soften and elongate with time.
