| Hello there,
In another forum (on astral projection) I've found the following URL:
http://www.666blacksun.com/OpeningChakras.html
In that site you're instructed to practice some mudras and mantras in
order to work out your chakras. The point is that the original poster
has warned us all explaining that those techniques are evil and that
some of the practicioners have been possessed by evil forces.
I've been practicing pranayama, mantras and the like in yoga for
several years. I've never felt anything evil nor wicked beings.
I don't know what's going on with those guys, but I'd appreciate a lot
from you all to have some feedback on this issue.
Maybe I'm wrong or some information is escaping me.
Please, check out the web and give some feedback.
By the way, you can find the discussion thread here:

| Hi,
Welcome to alt.yoga.
Please realize that there is only God.
God is the only cause in the Universe...
God is not evil; therefore there can be no evil to be afraid of.
Follow your Heart; follow Love; follow Truth and you align yourself
with Reality. And in Reality there is no evil; there is only God; and
God is Love.
It's all Love! Duh...

| Howdy!
First... it doesn't sound as if that poster was talking
about satanism. Satanism is the WORSHIP of Satan.
Such dogmatic statements are usually made by people
who have a blind faith in one doctrine and everything
else, by default, must be EVIL.
In this case I would think that it's safe to equate the
preaching of FEAR with IGNORANCE (i.e.; lack of
knowledge as opposed to stupidity.)

| He does, in some part of the thread. But I think he's not a satanist
because, initially, he advices all to take the best from the exercises,
putting apart what could be negative.
Now he states he has felt some kind of "possesion" due to the practice
of the cited exercises.
I also think that God is goodness, but such energy, applied to a non
prepared machine could make it blow off, couldn't it?

| Howdy Andonitxo!
Sounds like the "flow" is backwords...
"Possession" to the best of my knowledge is:
"SOMETHING COMING IN."
Yoga, on the other hand, is REDISCOVERING what has
always been within yourself

I don't claim to be an authority on Kundalini or any other
aspect of revitalization.
In his book:
"Meditation -- Man-Perfection in God-Satisfaction,"
(ISBN: 88497-444-8)
Sri Chinmoy discusses something that may be
relavant.
In Ch. 5 Q/A somebody asks about meditating
on the navel center. His response is:
==========
At this point in your spiritual development, it is
not a good idea for you to meditate on the navel
centre. This is the centre for dynamism, strength
and power. if you misuse dynamism it becomes
brutal agression. The navel centre is also the
emotional centre. With this emotion you can
expand yourself and become the Infinate. But
instead, if you do not have abundant purity in
your nature, you will become a victim to earthly
pleasure-life...
==========

Since "Satan" is a judeo-christian concept, hinduism and yoga would seem
to be strange places in which to look for satanism.

| Hi Jared,
If there is only GOD, then evil, devil, good and bad, in short
everything is GOD.
Therefore please see that GOD is not love only.!!!
I see that you have a great interest in GOD but remember, if GOD is
everything you cannot exclude bad and evil!! And you cannot represent
GOD with love only!!!
Think over and over see the TRUTH...
Respectfully,
PUMA

Howdy!
That response only makes sense if Hindus were the only people
practicing yoga.
Then again... there's yoga and there's WESTERN yoga!

| Puma,
If God is everything, then there is nothing else that he could
fight. Therefore what else could he be but love?

Maybe, but the point is that satan is a concept which is dreamt up by a
particular group or groups, and thus is irrelevant to yogic practice.

I've seen a lot of posts on a lot of forums about this or that being evil.
Usually such things are written by some kind of evangelical or
fundamentalist.
Some religions have very definite proscriptions against any other method,
anything that isn't in THAT religion.
So how does one tell?
By one's intention in essaying the practice.
By the results and phenomena resulting.
(IOW, you have nothing to worry about.)
Don't live your life by the dictates of others.
