i'm back at my morning practice after almost 2 weeks of other things seeming
more important. i'm again struck by how this 20 minute practice affects my
day. i know, its only 6:45 but i can already feel the difference. instead of
dragging my XXX and facing the back to work monday morning blues, i'm
feeling pretty good. my toes are all stretched out, my back is limber and
stable, i'm able to calm my breathing on the first try, i'm alert, and
pretty pleased with myself and the day i see ahead.

i'm going on a business trip in a couple of weeks and already have my yoga
planned. i'm sick of doing yoga on yucky hotel room floors or towels, so i
bought a travel mat - 1/16" thick and weighing less than 1 lb. i have a 1"
tall mini-ganeshe and a small beeswax candle for focus. those cut-throat
business boys would be surprised at how i start my day......then again, who
knows. maybe some of them are doing the same thing.

I know what you mean. Yoga helped me survive corporate life for many
years, and would still be doing it if I were not retired. Now it keeps me
from walking like an old man after I get out of bed. Funny how other
things sometimes seem more important. I find that I really need to do my
yoga routine at least three times a week. I live in a cold climate and do
my yoga in the morning, so I like to spend some time in the hot tub first
to warm my body up. When I'm traveling I just bite the bullet and do my
asanas on the hotel carpet.

The hot tub is a great warm up. I like to do it at night, then do some
light sitting and laying down poses before tucking in for a very cushy
ride into sleepy-by land.
