I STILL Have a cold

So I have had a cold since the last week of December.
I hardly ever get sick... But I got this thing and it's just not going
away. It's not really severe, mostly just lung stuff.
I think it's in my lungs mostly. I am always coughing up little bits
of stuff. I want to get that stuff out of there. Is there anything
that helps especially? Jared mentioned the neti pot. So maybe I'll
try something like that though I can't buy one right now.
Are their poses that might help push stuff out of the lungs? Might
inversions do this?
The one thing I think is a major variable is that I may not be sleeping
as much as I used to. Becuase, ironically, I have been getting up at
5:00 to do yoga and meditation. But I believe I am sleeping better
(going to bed a little earlier) and am better for it anyway. But I
used to sleep a lot, especially on my days off.
Though I have taken a couple of days off to do nothing but sleep. But
this thing still isn't going away. argh!@#!

try pranayama
bhastrika or kapalbhati
(but not at night)
but don't abuse
try also to relax more
sometimes diseases arise when we are under stress...

Have you been to a medical doctor?

Go to a doctor and get looked at. You could have bronchitis.

a regular cold is a viral infection, and lasts about 4 to 7 days.
Bacterial infection will last longer.
what colour is the stuff you are coughing up? if it is greenish into
the brown range you most likely have bacterial infection. If so, anti
biotics is the quickest way to clear that up.
To be sure you would have to go your M.D.

neiti pot is good for prevention but as it's action is in the nasal
passage way using it will not clear out the lungs since it does not go
into the lungs

according to tradition, the great sage Matseyendra cured himself of
pleurisy, a lung disease, with the famous spinal twist named after him,
matseyendrasana,
Spinal twists, standing, sitting, supine are all good for your lungs

For a couple dollars any drugstore sells pure saline solution for nasal
use. Its more convenient than a neti pot.

Also inversions can help, but you need to hold them for a while.

Take it easy. See a doctor.

| sometimes light fasting helps. creating a condition to let your body deal
with the problem
fresh juices and fruits for few days might help
if it's persistant, better go see a doctor
take care, danijel

Thanks to everyone (just responding collectively here).
Dr. would be a good idea. I don't think it's anything other then a
long term bug. It's not that serious, it's just that it's sticking
around so long. Seems like a lot of other people are getting the same
thing.
We can probably thank antibiotics for helping to accellerate the
evolution of these fascinating super viruses, or whatever they are.
Really it's just annoying.
I think I might buy some of the stuff that makes you cough up all the
goop. I feel like that's what I need, just to get all the goop out.
Yum.
Still going strong with daily practice. 24 days in a row.. 5:00am.
Whoot!

I suppose you want to go back to the time before antibiotics when
bacterial infections literally killed millions each year.

If you think you want to tough out a infection that in the long term
can scar your airways (and that is what infections can do, permanently
scar and harden your airways) its your concern.

| Hi,
I agree that fasting would be benificial! In case of illness, it always
will be.
Do a search on the concept of "healing crisis". Basically this is when
one starts to cleanse the body, mind & spirit all kinds of "bad" things
might arise as a result of poisons being cleared from the effected
parts.
Also if you suspect an "infection" of some sort then I would suggest
something that has really helped me over the years. That is to "accept"
whatever organism is "taking up residence" in your body at the moment.
Invite them in, welcome them, bless them and nuture them with as much
sincerity as you can muster (even if only in hollow words spoken
outloud). In other words do not resist but embrace. I think you may be
pleasently surprised at how quickly and gently the "germs" finish their
business and move on :-)

Yeah, I actually thought about doing a fast. I have done them before
for up to five days and always felt great. For some reason I don't
seem to have the discipline I used to to carry them out. I'm going to
do another kind of cleanse when I get paid, basically lots of
vegetables, fruit, and a vegetable broth. Tends to be a tad costly
though.
