| Excuse me dropping in unannounced, and probably the breaking the Group
rules horribly in the process... :o)
I want to by a nice rug or something for my wife to practice yoga on.
She has recently taken it up, and enjoys it immensely. She has expressed
a desire for somethig to do it on. . I think it is not so much a padded
mat she wants, as something beautiful that will allow her to make that
part of the lounge a kind of sacred space while she does it. I'd like to
get her a nice surprise for when she returns from abroad.
Any suggestions or things I aught to know?
Raist.

| Raist,
Welcome to alt.yoga. Drop in anytime you feel like it announced or not
it doesn't matter :-)
I was excited when I saw your post because I think I have just the item
for you. I bought one last March and I love it.
My response was delayed because I had to look through a bunch of stuff
before I found this referral for you.

I bought one of these mats and I am delighted with it. I am in Southern
California and it cost me $35 with shipping. I remember receiving it
directly from India within a couple of days. I was absolutely amazed. I
could hardly believe they could get it half way around the world in
that time.
The mat is hand woven. I use it over carpet so it stays put very
nicely. Very soft, flexible and very comforatable material. It's color
is a very soothing and beautiful pale green. I really, really like it.
If you get one I'd appreciate it if you let me know how you like it.

Mu suggestion is not to buy her a mat, no matter how helpful it seems.
Simply put, it should be her space, so she should buy it herself. (You
never know, she might have already bought something abroad).
Give her some love and let her use it to blossom in a free space.

| Wade,
And the difference between giving a yoga mat and giving Love is...?

Thanks for the link. It looks like the perfect thing... does it roll up
and stow easily?

I thought long and hard about this, and you do make a valid point.
However, in this case... I kinda think that she would put off getting
something for quite some time. She has been getting some bits and pieces
together to personalise the experience, but I think this would be both a
bit of encouragement and a bit of "you have no reason not to do it now".
She always exclaims how good she feels after doing it and how it makes
the rest of her day better, but she has a teensy bit of inertia in
getting started. Heh, I can talk... I admit to being a lot worse on that
score - thats why I think it better to do it in this way rather than say
anything :o)
In short: Yoga on a mat a loved one has bought you has got to be better
than no yoga at all ;o)
Thanks for your thoughts, Wade.

| Yes it roles up very easily and compactly.
I found some matching material at the local WalMart for $1.00 a yard so
I sewed my own pouch/holder w/ a carrying strap. I think the site I
sent you to has one available.
Good luck
