| Hello! I'm new to the group and am very interested in how to do yoga
with/for my six month old son. We already play a lot of body movement games
but would be grateful for some more structure in our exercise time. Would
love to teach him a small routine of poses that can be done with infants. We
live out in the country in West Texas so I'm afraid finding a class is out
of the question.
Anyone have any helpful websites? Or routines that they have found helpful
to use with their child?
Blessings,

Hi,
I wouldn't try teaching an infant yoga. Although unconscious of it,
they are at that age as close to pure yoga as there is. Any structure
will only hasten their "unlearning" of yoga. At this age its all about
play.
Rather I suggest you learn yoga and practice it and make it part of
your life. When your child becomes interested in what you are doing
they will start to mimic you. In the mean time you will have learned
some skills worth imitating :-)
I have seen some yoga with your baby videos. A quick search on the
internet should locate them easily enough. As far as basic (good solid
traditonal) yoga for you, I would suggest any book by Richard
Hittleman. Easy to find on amazon and cheap. Great to teach youself by.
Good luck,
Namaste

I am with Omjaram on this. Yoga is not really for infants. However
once son my grew to school age he liked going to kid's yoga classes.
There are a number of books on the subject. By the time your tot is
older there will prolly be more. There is a good chance you can get
together some of his friends and make a class out of it.

I was 13 when I started doing yoga, inspired by a friend who had an aunt
who was into yoga. I'm not sure I couldn't have started even earlier,
though, perhaps at ten or so, if I'd gotten the opportunity.
