Author yoga alliance ????

Hi,

I've been registered with the Yoga Alliance for over 2 years now and I'm
beginning to wonder about the its legitimacy in terms of yoga standards. The
response one gets to questions is incredibly long and not really complete.
I've known owners of yoga studios that have said the same thing. Those who
are listed on their website are paying forty dollars a year and for what? To
have your name listed on a website. Seems like a lot of money for that.
Where is this money going? The one real need of an organization like Yoga
Alliance would be to provide a pooling of people so that some form of
medical insurance would be available at a group rate. Something that they
haven't done. It's sad but the popularity of yoga has spawned a lot of
people and organizations that are only interested in making money and have
no real interest in yoga. I hope that Yoga Alliance isn't one of these. I
can remember when it was first started, there were a lot of well know yoga
teachers that put their names on a list supporting it. I no longer see any
of these people mentioned on the website.

I sincerely hope I'm wrong about Yoga Alliance. Maybe I'm an idealist, but
ripping off yoga teachers and students isn't what yoga is about.

Any opinions?

Henry

I read it. It was interesting, but the ambivalence towards my post is why
organizations can get away with whatever they want if they have no
conscience.

Thanks,

Henry

Yoga Alliance is a complete scam. The board of directors consists of
religious cults that are out to rip people off emotionally, financially
etc.
Plenty of people were teaching yoga and qualified to do so before their
organization came along.Yoga is supposed to be free. They want yoga
available to rich people only!
I am a yoga teacher that has a hard time making a living teaching due to
the Yoga Alliance. I personally I am on the lookout for teachers that are
not associated with this organization, but it is hard!
Burns me up!

Hi Suryaflower,

Ever tried nude yoga? It's about as free as you can get. Lots of people in
the group below are looking for qualified teachers. Best wishes for all
success in your yoga teaching.

likely be theirs based on this information.nice to know there are some
level headed yogis still left.

Do you? (Maybe you only do it verbally.)

I made the reference to the nude yogis smearing themselves with cow dung as
a joke- well sort of! It is my understanding that traditionally there are
certain practices where the yogis are not only nude, but smear themselves
with dung fromt he sacred cow and carry a trident. Why I could not tell
you??? That's just what I heard. sometimes I think some religious cult
leaders make stuff like that up and say it it is tradition just to see how
far someone will follow them. IMO. Peace to you and hope all had a nice
holiday.

I made the post about nude yogi's smearing themselves with cow dung as a
joke. well sorta kinda.
I heard of a ritual where nude yogi's smear themselves with sacred cow
dung and hold a trident. Which one I'm not sure. There are 100's of
rituals. In my opinion I think some of the ones that seem too outrageous
to be true are! I think some of them were made up by religious cult
leaders to see how far they can get their followers to go. I hope everyone
had a terrific holiday. Peace to all.
